Hi I'm Chuck Shorter

I was born and raised in Virginia where I worked as a project engineer for a nuclear service company.

About Me

I've been married to my first wife for over 37 years wherein we had three children and they have each had three children so far. I enjoy the things that we all do together like vacations and working around the house. Watching the grandchildren in their sports events is great also. Before I retired, I traveled the U.S. and other countries with my work inspecting nuclear fuel and control rods.

Why I am a Mormon

My father was not a member of the LDS church but my mother has been most of her life. I had a clear choice when it came to church, I could attend dad's church, mom's church, or with neighbors who would have taken me with them. I'm very thankful that when I gained a little knowledge and asked my Father in heaven if Joseph Smith's experience was real, I got a clear answer. The holy ghost witnessed truth to me many times since then and I see that my life is so much better than it could have been without this direction. I couldn't deny the gospel now and wouldn't want to live without it.

How I live my faith

Living my faith hasn't been difficult when I was working or since. Callings in the church have been so helpful for me to learn and live the principles of the gospel. As a bishop you're always engaged in youth programs as well as working with the needy. Being recently released as a bishop, I still try to help many in the area whether it's replacing the roof on their house or supporting a friend during a divorce. I get to occasionally teach the adult Sunday school class, which is as fun as it is educational.
