Hi I'm Lydia

I'm a Mormon. The missionaries came to my house when I was 4 years old. I grew up in the Gospel.

About Me

I am a mother of 4 and a grandmother of 16 plus one great grand child. I love to do crafts, mainly of a sewing nature. I got married before I finished my college education so I went back when I was 54 years old and finished my degree in Business Administration. my greatest joy comes in my family---I have no greater joy than to know they are trying their best to keep their covenants with their Heavenly Father. Another great joy are my callings in the Church. I love to teach the gospel, but will do anything to help His work any way I can.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel has been a beacon, a guiding light for me all my life. I was baptized as a young girl and received my personal testimony of the Book of Mormon when I was 14 years of age. I have been actively involved in this church all my life. I love it. I know that all of its teachings are true. it burns within me. I know that indeed, Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ on that beautiful spring day and that his experience on that day, changed the world forever. He was not a literate young boy, but he was pure and worthy to be an instrument in the hands of God in restoring the true gospel of Jesus Christ back to the earth as it had been when Christ himself was on the earth. I love the Book of Mormon. I know that indeed "...a man would get nearer to God by abiding by it's precepts..." I invite everyone to read this inspired book and promise you that your life will change forever.

How I live my faith

Presently I teach the 15 year-olds in Sunday School. There are 12 of them and I love them because they are so good and so willing to learn. I love to visit some of the sisters in our congregation on a monthly basis...they get to know me and I get to know them and together we learn about what the Savior expects of us as women in the Church. My husband and I love to visit shut-ins, the older folks or those that are ill. occasionally my husband and I have had activities in our home for the older folks (like us). This December we hosted a Christmas party which was a lot of fun.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

We have twelve apostles in our church today because the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored in its entirety; just like Christ organized it originally. We need Apostles as much as the people of the old world needed them because: 1) God needs to direct His Church through His authority on earth today too; 2) He loves us in our day, just as much as He did those of the old world; 3) He needs to guide and counsel us through his apostles and prophets today. Without the twelve apostles we would not have the authority --or right (permission)---to act in His name. But because our apostles today have the same priesthood, they too can do the same great works that the apostles did anciently. Show more Show less
