Hi I'm Marty

I am a Dad, Husband, Land Use Planner, Adventure Motorcyclist, and a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Marty and I grew up a Mormon in Salt Lake City, Utah. I served an LDS mission in Norway after high school and met and married my beautiful wife while attending the University of Utah. After she graduated we moved to Farmington Utah where I finished my Bachelors degree at Weber State University and my wife earned her Masters degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Utah State University. We then moved to Iowa City where I completed my Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning. After leaving Iowa City we spent a year in Arizona and then 10 years in Wyoming. We have recently moved our three boys (17, 13, & 9) to Rockville, Maryland where my wife grew up and where her parents still live. I work for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and my wife is a Speech & Language Pathologist for the Montgomery County Public School system. We are excited to be living in the big city and excited for what life has in store for us next.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Mormon church but through lifes many trials and tribulations I have had to find my own testimony as to the truthfulness of this gospel. I have found incredible strength through prayer and have many times been guided and comforted by the knowledge that Jesus is the Christ, my Savior and my Brother.

How I live my faith

I try to be a good person, one who is nice to those around me and I try to set a good example to my coworkers, family and friends. My wife and I have been asked to serve as ward missionaries in the Derwood, MD Ward which involves teaching new members of the church lessons regarding the principles of the LDS faith.
