Hi I'm Sherry Morrell

I am a Mormon! I grew up from the age of 5 on in Southern California, the Santa Clarita area.

About Me

I am a mother of 4 kids. 1 is my step daughter from my husbands previous marriage and I cannot imagine life without her in it. I have 3 kids of my own. A boy and 2 girls. At this time (Dec 2013) 14, 10, and 8. I am married to an Army veteran of 23 years in the service. We have been married for 15 years. In that time frame we have lived in many places; Hawaii, California, Kentucky, Georgia, Colorado, North Carolina, and Michigan. Michigan has now become our home and we love it here. I also enjoy scrapbooking when I can fit it in. Ha Ha Ha! I am in the process of working on my Masters Degree in Human Resource Development. In the past between being at home with my parents and getting married to my spouse of 15 years and becoming a mom, I went to Ricks College for a year, traveled back and forth from the West coast to the East coast several times, I was a nanny for several different families and enjoyed that. I was also married for a short time to someone who was not a member of my church, but during the marriage became very anti-Mormon and it was just too difficult and sad to live with that. I went to the East coast again after that and then later on met my current spouse "on-line" through AOL chatting. The rest as they say is history!!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe it is true. Not just because I "grew up" Mormon. It is sad to say but when I was younger a lot/many of the youth were not so kind to me and my family and our ward was very "clickish", if you weren't "in" you were ostracized. I was teased by the young men very badly and it hurt a lot. My bother was also teased a lot. It was very distressing. But my mom always taught us that we go to church because God wants us to be there and it is where we should be. I have grown our of and passed those mean kids and people...and go out of my way to make sure my kids are treated right and that I treat others right. One of the strongest reasons I am a Mormon is because of Joseph Smith and everything he went through to bring us what he did and bring us the Book of Mormon. It is also his testimony and when he says this: "I knew it and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it"! That is a very strong testimony and he never backed down nor gave up nor denied that which he knew to be true. I look forward to meeting him on the other side someday.

How I live my faith

I attend church weekly, but it is a challenge for me to drive 30 minutes to church. This is how far I am from a ward building. But it is part of the sacrifice. I love the Gospel with all my heart. I believe in it whole heartedly. At one point in my life I had to choose between the Gospel or a marriage and my heart knew the Gospel was right, so I made my choice, and have no regrets. I read scriptures, sayings, quotes, anything that is uplifting to my soul. We actively have the missionaries in our home for dinners and drop byes, just because I LOVE the spirit they bring to our home. I do not actively hold a "job" in our ward, but I help wherever I can. I do also visit with other sister throughout the month which is always uplifting.
