Hi I'm Jared

I'm the oldest of five, a HUGE animation buff, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I attended one semester of college before embarking on a mission to Chicago, Illinois (where I continue to serve right now). I've spent about four years in high school doing marching band (on the French horn/mellophone), and music is one of the many things I'm passionate about in life. I am also a big fan of animation, be it film, television, anime, or or even simple cartoons. I may not yet know what career I'm working towards right now, but I definitely hope to eventually do something that will benefit others.

Why I am a Mormon

I may have been born into the Church, but I continue being active in it because I have learned for myself that the Book of Mormon is true. By following its doctrine and the teachings of Jesus Christ, I know that one can find true, lasting happiness, and I want as many others as possible to experience this joy. The reason I am serving a mission for this church is because there is so much enmity in the world. If others were to learn of how the fullness of the Gospel has been restored, I believe it can help change their lives for the better. I testify with all my heart that the Book of Mormon, a record of ancient scripture translated by the power of God, contains this fullness of the Gospel. If we hearken to what it teaches we can know our purpose here on Earth. I also testify that President Thomas S. Monson, the president of our church, is a living prophet of God. He can guide us in these latter days to do that which is right. All of these things I proclaim in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I've served as a Sunday School President in my college ward, which required me to assign teachers to plan lessons I would delegate to them, and they would teach those lessons every Sunday. I was also an (unofficial) piano accompanist for meetings in my home ward. Additionally, I've been a home teacher for a few years, which means I visit assigned families in the ward, deliver a short message, and talk with them for a while.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Jared
Families can live together forever - though we may become separated in this life, we have been promised by our Heavenly Father that through acceptance of the gospel, adherence to the commandments, and by sacred temple ordinances, we can be sealed to our families for time and eternity.
