Hi I'm Ron

I grew up in Orem Utah. I am a neonatologist, LDS mission president, father and grandfather. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Orem, Utah. I served a full-time Mission for the LDS Church in Germany. I am a Physician/Neonatologist and am currently the Medical Director of the Newborn Intensive Care Nursery at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. I served as a Major in the U.S. Air Force. I am married and a Father of 1 son and 4 daughters and have 20 grandchildren. My wife Barbara and I were married 42 years ago in the Salt Lake City Temple. We enjoy spending time with our family at our Cabin in the Mountains of Utah and our houseboat at Lake Powell, Utah. We enjoy waterskiing, boating, snow skiing, swimming and both playing and attending athletic events. We also enjoy doing family history work, attending the Temple and serving however we can. We have been able to travel around the world with my work teaching neonatal resuscitation for LDS Humanitarian Services. We are excited to begin serving as Mission President and Wife in July 2014 and are looking forward to continuing to share the Gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be raised in a family of seven children. My parents were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons). As a family we read from the scriptures every day and prayed together each morning and night. We also had a family council each week where we discussed the Gospel of Jesus Christ and planned family activities. My parents were always serving other people and I felt the joy early in my life of serving. Over time the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ sank deep into my heart and the testimonies of the prophets filled my soul with joy and hope. I came to know with certainty that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World. I came to know that I am literally a spirit son of a loving Heavenly Father. Most importantly, I have gained a personal witness through the Spirit of God that in the spring of 1820, in the state of New York, God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ appeared to a young boy named Joseph Smith. This began a sequence of events restoring ancient scripture (The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ), the priesthood authority to perform sacred ordinances including the sealing of families together forever, and the restoration of Church of Jesus Christ as it existed when He was upon the earth. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints means everything to me. I know that Jesus Christ is the head of this Church and that He directs it through living prophets and apostles.

How I live my faith

I was recently released from presiding over a group of congregations that totaled over 5,000 members. I am currently serving as an Executive Secretary to an Area Authority of our Church in the Orem, Utah. I continue to visit families in our congregation on a monthly basis as a Home Teacher. My wife and I are excited to begin serving as Mission President and Wife in July 2014 and are looking forward to continuing to share the Gospel.
