Hi I'm Kirstine

I'm a big sister, athlete and musician. I'm going on a mission. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am an enthusiastic person with lots of interests; I enjoy sports, superhero movies, fashion design, art, mystery novels, the great outdoors, psychology, food, and a huge variety of music. I just love life and all it has to offer! I'm goal-oriented and like getting the job done. I work as a lifeguard and swim instructor during the summer. I love working with children and being in the water! I just finished my first semester of college and hope to eventually earn a degree in social work/family studies. I want to work in the social work realm or in public interest anthropology to help families and children. I am the oldest of five kids, and even though life can be hectic sometimes, boredom is never a problem. I love my family to pieces! I'm working to be an example to them as I prepare to serve an eighteen month mission for the Church in the Kentucky Louisville Mission (Spanish speaking) in the spring.

Why I am a Mormon

I always felt God's love for me and I have always wanted to do what was right in His eyes; but sometimes my faith was shaken. I went through a rough period in my early teenage years and decided that if I was going to do "this whole Mormon thing," it needed to be because I personally knew it was true, not because my parents said it was. I decided to do as Joseph Smith did and ask God. I sincerely prayed and asked my Heavenly Father if this was His true church. The answer came to my mind as a warm feeling in my heart and all over my body. I was filled with the desire to grow closer to my Heavenly Father and start living with more love in my life. Since then, I have working to become the person that God intended me to be. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints helps me to do that because it is Christ's true church restored to the earth. It teaches His complete gospel and it's leaders have His authority to perform ordinances to help us return to Heavenly Father. Through the gospel, I have learned about the atoning love of Jesus Christ. He lives and loves every single one of us with a matchless love! I know this because I have felt His loving hands comfort me in times of trial and cleanse me when I have sinned. He is always waiting to reach out to us, we just need to take His hand. There are so many of God's children that don't know that they have a Heavenly Father who knows and loves them. This is why I have chosen to serve a mission! I want everyone to have the happiness that I have been blessed with through knowing Christ. The Book of Mormon testifies of His divinity. This is the most precious thing that I know. This is His gospel and His church. If you read His word and pray for guidance, then you can know it as well.

How I live my faith

Right now I serve in my local congregation as a "family history consultant," which means I teach members or anyone who wants to know about how to learn about their heritage and how to add to their family history. It has been a blessing to be able to help connect people to their ancestors and learn more about my own family history in the process! Genealogy is very important in the Church because we believe that through the blessings of the temple, families can be together forever. By doing family history, we find families who didn't have the opportunity to be baptized or sealed to each other while they were alive and then take those names to the temple. There ordinances are performed by living members in their place so those families can be together for time and all eternity. This is very important work and I have seen so many miracles in doing it.
