Hi I'm Jennifer

I am a speech pathologist at an elementary school. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

About Me

I am the oldest of 3 kids, and I love my family, even though we have different beliefs. Only my mom and I go to church. I am single, but hope to be married and have a family someday, I just haven't found a man I really want to marry yet. I love my job as an elementary school speech pathologist, which I have done for 9 years now. I love to Ski in Utah and ride horses with my family in Arizona whenever I come home. We used to do long-distance endurance riding on horseback. I went to Spain to study abroad and still practice my Spanish at school (work). I went to Peru a few years ago and hiked the Inca Trail. I love to travel, especially to Latin America. I used to figure skate, but I hurt my back and had to quit, so now I salsa dance and dance West Coast Swing. I am also taking piano lessons, hoping to be able to play in church someday. I like to hike and did my first Triathlon a couple of years ago.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the LDS/"mormon" church all my life, but only my mom and I go to church these days. However, no matter what my family chooses to believe, I love them and I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. Being a member of the LDS church has given me many opportunities to help others and to develop my relationship with God. I love going to church because it helps me to connect spiritually and socially with others who believe as I do, but more importantly, because I love Jesus Christ, and I love his teachings. I love the spiritual strength and comfort I get from the things I learn at church as well as when I attend our temple, study the bible, the Book or Mormon, and the teachings of our leaders, and when I pray. Often when I pray, I feel God's love and know that he cares about me. I especially feel that spirit of love when I am going through hard times of loneliness or discouragement, and I am grateful for it. I find that God is more patient with me than I am with myself at times. I am trying to be kinder to myself and to others, and the teachings of the Church help remind me that I am important to God and that we are all equals and we all deserve love. It inspires me to try to be the best person I can and to do more to reach out to others than I would without that spiritual help. I know the gospel of Jesus Christ is true, and that Joseph Smith restored the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. With it comes many spiritual blessings and living the principles it teaches brings me happiness!

How I live my faith

As far as official "church jobs" or what we call calIings, I enjoy being a visiting teacher, which means I get to go visit people in our church group and basically make friends with them and try to support them. I have had a few different callings, like helping to organize "family home evening" events for singles on Monday nights and reporting on how the girls in our ward, or church group, have visited each other. Basically though, I just try to live my faith by being a kind person. I am not perfect at it of course, but I try to help other people. I volunteer for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and have been having fun with my "little brother" for 5 years now. I try to stay close to my family and call my grandma every week since my grandpa passed away so help with her loneliness a little. I try to do my best to help kids at my job and to be a good friend.
