Hi I'm Brad

I grew up in Bethesda, Maryland and I have worked for Marriott International for thirty-two years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Bethesda, Md where I enjoyed playing sports. I was the captain of the Winston Churchill HS football team that won the MD. State Championship in 1976. I attended BYU and graduated with a degree in Finance and then completed an MBA from UVA, Darden School in 1987. I have worked in UT, GA, DC, VA, MD, and AZ with over 20 years as a GM for Marriott International. I have four children who attended Walt Whitman HS and have all been very successful in their respective fields of interest. Currently we have three grandchildren. I am also currently serving as the Chairman of the Board for Leadership Montgomery.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have wonderful ancestors who joined the church and have set a wonderful example for me on why and how to be a follower of Christ. When I was a senior in high school I read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover in one week. I read Moroni 10 versuses 3-5, on page 529, and then I prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was the Word of God. The Holy Ghost bore witness to me of the truthfulness of this book and I have since strengthened my belief and understanding of the teachings of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that God lives and that Jesus is our Savior and Redeemer. It is thorugh Him we are able to repent of our sins and return to live with our Father in Heaven. I am not perfect, but I strive to be more Christ-like and love/serve those around me.

How I live my faith

I look to serve others in both my church as well as my community. I currently work with 160 young men in the Washington DC area for our church. I have been a Scoutmaster, and held many different responsibilities within our church. I have also served in our community as a coach for my children's sports teams, President of the Montgomery County CVB among other roles. I look for opportunities to serve others in many ways such as shoveling snow, helping people move and other opportunities.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Brad
All Mormons are not required to serve missions, but those that are worthy are able to serve and enjoy the blessings of serving God and others. I learned more from my mission that I applied to my work than I did from completing my MBA. Missions provide a wonderful opportunity for personal growth, learning other cultures and languages as well as sharing the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In order to share the Gospel you need to learn a little about what others believe so a mission gives you an opportunity to learn of others beliefs as well as focus 100% of your time in serving others.
