Hi I'm Lauren Thomas

I'm a missionary. I'm a college student. I'm a dancer. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am currently a student at Brigham Young University in Provo. I am a Pre-Management major hoping to study Information Systems and minor in Contemporary Dance. Did I mention I love to dance? I love it..love it! In high school I was on Dance Company and I danced with a studio through the University of Utah. I was also a yearbook Editor-in-Chief... nerdy, right? I love Pride and Prejudice and all things Jane Austen. It is my dream to study abroad in London. I love Disney. I am a little bit obsessed with Pinterest. I love chocolate. I used to work at a bakery. I have a cockapoo and she is the sweetest dog in the world. I like making lists and making plans. I have been called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Arizona Tucson Mission at the end of this school semester... I am so excited!

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I grew up going to Church with them every Sunday. Most of my neighbors and classmates are also members of the Church so I have always had a strong community of Church members supporting me. When I was eight, I was baptized which made me an official member of the Church and was an opportunity for me to promise to God that I would be a representative of Christ, keep His commandments, and build His kingdom. As I grew, I wanted to know for certain, for myself, if it was all REALLY true. I started reading the Book of Mormon everyday, really paying attention and participating in my Church meetings and classes, and striving to be more like Christ everyday. Over time, I realized that I had developed a strong testimony of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and this gospel. I KNEW it was true... and I KNOW it is true. I have lived it, studied it, tried it. Nothing in this world brings me more happiness, more peace, more purpose than the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith everywhere I go, in everything I say and everything I do. I read my scriptures daily, I attend the temple often, I serve in the callings extended to me, I make an effort to always have a smile on my face, and to serve the way the Savior would. I know I am not perfect, but I try everyday to be a little better. I am preparing and will soon be serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

In whom should we have faith?

Lauren Thomas
Faith must be centered on the Savior, Jesus Christ. Faith is not simply believing in Christ, it is acting on belief in Christ. My faith in Christ means that I strive to be like Him, I keep His commandments, and I use His atonement. The Book of Mormon teaches the doctrine of Christ, which is faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end. In 3 Nephi 11:39 Christ teaches that whoever builds upon this doctrine builds upon His rock. It is by obedience to these principles that we build faith in Christ. When I show faith in Christ by doing what He wants me to do, I feel His power in my life: I feel greater love for other people and for myself, and I have a stronger desire to do more good and be more like Him.
