Hi I'm Roger

I grew up in Beijing, China, currently studying at Durham Uni. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Beijing, a city packed with what China's most well-known for, people and food. After graduating college in finance/math and working in investment banking business for a while, I am now studying in UK for a master degree in finance at Durham Uni and hoping a career line in better deeds. England sure is different and I love everything about it, even the unpredictable weather. Traveling has always been my passion. Backpacking through Laos, Thailand and Malaysia and some parts of US for past few years was amazing and valuable experiences for me, and i hope to be able to continue traveling, cover more ground on foot and meet different people, children of our Heavenly Father.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized in Nov 2013, so i'm pretty much still a new learner. It was in Oct, at the time I had been reading the Book of Mormon for a week and I remember this one night I really really prayed to Heavenly Father asking whether what i was reading was true. The next day I was at the local library and apparently had to wait 40 more mins for the missionaries because they missed their bus. You know how when you are waiting for someone who's late you just get more and more impatient or even frustrated as time passes. Well, I stood in there waiting but it just didn't feel like that at all. This one moment I felt my heart burning so warm, and mind so enlightened. I just knew that was the Holy Ghost answering me. When I realized that I felt so much joy in my chest and just couldn't wait to tell the Elders my decision. my waiting, felt more like I've been waiting for my whole life. I've been to several church members' families for dinner and other events. And let me tell you, if my future family is just half as happy as they are, I'd consider myself the luckiest guy in the world. I look at them and I know they are so blessed with happiness in their life. I bear my testimony that the church is the true Christ's church, with his teachings and authority. And like in biblical times we also have a modern living prophet, Thomas S. Monson so we can see the hand of God, and better understand and live in the gospel to guide and shape our own lives.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is essential in my life for sure. With faith there's hope, and isn't that what everyone base their lives upon. I go to church every Sunday because it's just such an spiritual experience for me and to feel closer to our heavenly father and to remember Christ's atonement and sacrifice for all of us. I take ~30 mins each day to study the scriptures and learn about the gospel in Jesus Christ, and gain great positive energy, in both good and bad times, like gratefulness, spiritual strength and inner peace, which i see is great blessings. I realize that life is not just random "dots" anymore, where instead things are all connected, and it's good, it's funny and it's beautiful.
