Hi I'm Karen

I'm kind of a big deal. Best family in the world! Love sports and being active in any way. I love music. "I'm a Mormon"

About Me

I am the middle child of five so I've always needed ways to stand out and be my own person. I was the nerdy girl on the playground at school that played Basketball with the boys regardless of cooties. Jr. High I tried finding myself by trying a little of everything. High School I found my niche in the choirs but continued my love of sports and art. I Graduated with an Associates of Science and tried to go to school at the U when my heart was taken by a BYU fan... The heart wants what the heart wants... Sometimes the heart wants a divorced 30 year old with two kids who lives in his parents basement. You may question your hearts direction but day by day my family are the ones that are making me the best me I can be. I am so blessed to have them as my companions on life's crazy ride.

Why I am a Mormon

I am one of those people that is continually learning truths of the gospel. I was raised in this gospel always looking to my parents and leaders for my testimony. I had found truths in many of the principals my parents taught me. I read the Book of Mormon and always felt like it was true with so many old stories to learn from. But I never liked history. I found most of my testimony as I studied in Seminary and Institute. I had many teachers that made history fun to me and made me excited to learn from the scriptures. I learned a lot from music and the spirit it brings to me when I hear it sung from someone bearing it as testimony. Then I wanted to do that for others. I wanted others to feel that spirit you get from truth. My whole life I wished I would have had huge spiritual experience. That God would come down and visit me as he has done with the prophets. But now I feel the less you know the more faith you have to show him. I am continually searching for more truths to add to my testimony but what I do know is that we have a Heavenly Father that loves us, that he sent his son to die for us so we can live as a family in heaven when we die. I know that the spirit is there as a guide to always teach you. I know that my husband has the Priesthood of God and blesses our home everyday. I am so grateful for all my blessings and the truths that I've learned for they are my road map when the roads are always changing.

How I live my faith

Day by day I try to be the best person I can be. In my ward I do my best to serve others, I try to be a good example for friends and family not of my faith but my favorite way to live my faith is by teaching and supporting my family. The most important calling in life is being a wife and mother. One of my spiritual treasures that has helped build my testimony is an experience I had with my step daughter. She occasionally gets scared of the dark or of dreams and I would just sit a while till she fell asleep or I'll sing to her or read a story to calm her down, but this night was different. My big 7 year old was screaming at the top of her lungs. She was scared that a fire was going to burn down our house. She was all shaky and sweaty and making herself sick. I had a bad attitude going downstairs wishing that my husband would have gone instead of me. But as I started calming her I down I felt the spirit with me as spoke. I told her that Heavenly Father knew her very well and that he is always there for her. When I said this it felt like the spirit was teaching me and my daughter the same principal he is always there whether it is to help in teaching a parent patience or teaching a child to calm her worries. All we have to do is ask him. Matthew 7:7 "knock, and it shall be opened unto you"
