Hi I'm Kathery =D

I grew up near Boston. I want to help families. I love living and learning. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up loving school and life. When I was in grade school, the missionaries taught my parents the Restored Gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ. I soon found myself comfortably identifying with my true identity of a strong and capable daughter of Heavenly Father with divine individual worth. I love the strength and the confidence that I felt as I strengthened my relationship with Father in Heaven. I decided to start my college education at Brigham Young University Hawaii and a midst that beautiful cultural and faith-building location I was inspired to believe in something much greater than anything before. I desired to serve a mission! Eighteen month later, I completed a full-time missionary service and returned from many wonderful and challenging times in the Fortaleza, Brazil mission. Now, I am finding my way back to continue my education. I love cooking, shopping, music, movie marathons with plenty of popcorn, exploring outdoor trails, walking, especially walking in and around the Lord's Temples, and just living life with enthusiasm and I must admit... sometimes pretending my life is an awesome epic movie. (I also asked my sister, my other half, what I should include. Result: "that you are simply amazing") Did I mention that I also love my familia? :D

Why I am a Mormon

Among the records of ancient prophets we read, "and they lived after the manner of happiness". (The Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 5:27). This verse explains the state of a people who loved the Lord and obeyed the commandments. I am a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, because I want to be splendidly, blissfully, unequivocally, and eternally happy. I am a Mormon because I can feel the influence of God in my life much more when I am putting forth great efforts in obeying what He would have me do than the times when I simply do what I want to do. I am a Mormon because I know that God still talks to His children today in a general way through modern day real prophets and on personal ways through his Spirit. I am a Mormon because being a member of Christ's restored church helps me learn more about the greatest act of love that has ever occurred which is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I know that He gave His life for me. I know I can be granted mercy and receive forgiveness by following the teachings of Jesus Christ. I know that through His eternal atonement, my weaknesses can be made strong. I can move on and grow. I know that Jesus Christ led a remarkable life in His mortal ministry and I know that He lives today. I know that He will return one day. Through all the lows and highs of life, through all the challenges, and all of the "livin' and learnin'", I am Mormon because I am Happy! =D

How I live my faith

The way I live my faith is by learning from my mistakes and experiences. faith is essential to my personal progress in following the teachings of Jesus Christ. President Ezra Taft Benson said that "the Lord our God has sent us here to get experience...that we may know the good from the evil and be able to close our hearts against the evil... It is true that some have greater power of resistance than others, but everyone has the power to close his heart against doubt, against darkness, against unbelief, against depression, against anger, against hatred, against jealousy, against malice, against envy. God has given this power unto all of us, and we can gain still greater power by calling upon Him for that which we lack." I live my faith by remembering my great dependence on Jesus Christ. I analyze my life and make goals to improve and be a little better each day. For example, I like to be kind to everyone. On my mission, I felt as if I was seeing people through God's eyes. Everyone has such great potential! I believe that being kind to myself by strengthening my testimony helps me learn how to be more Christlike to all my brothers and sisters around me.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Kathery =D
we can receive the blessing of assurance through receiving and maintaining the gift of the Holy Ghost. I like to think of him as my 24/4 companion who will help me in all my righteous endeavors. It is a gift to be enjoyed only through worthiness. We are worth to enjoy the companionship as long as we are doing what is right. I know I am not perfect, however, because Heavenly Father knows when I am trying to be good, He blesses me with His spirit or the gift of Holy Ghost. When you get right down to everything, there is good emanating from God at all times. However, there is an opposing force. The opponents are trying to get us to do bad things and the defending team, or you and the Holy Ghost, are tying to choose the right and eventually make it back to Father's presence. Simply put, the gift of the Holy Ghost is is a promise of eternal life because if we are worthy to have him by our side, we are doing pretty good! Show more Show less
