Hi I'm Gary

I live in Albert, love telling jokes, and love my sister missionaries. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southwestern Ontario, but now consider myself a 'westener' since moving out here in 1981. I love my beautiful wife and beautiful daughter. My favourite sports are racquet ball and golfing, the two that I can still play with some level of skill and enjoy. I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was twenty-four and have never regretted it. I had the privlage and blessing of being able to serve a full-time mission in the Utah Salt Lake City Mission in 1978/1979. One of the best experiences of my life. I was also blessed to marry Trudy Doreen Locking in the Cardston Alberta Temple in 1985 for time and eternity. Life for the most part has been good to me although there have been challenges and disappointments along the way. I have felt the blessings of our Heavenly Father throughout my life and I am grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ in which He sacrificed himself for me and all of God's children.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was taught the true gospel of Jesus Christ by the full time missionaries, it all seemed so logical and familiar. It seemed to resonate within my soul. I received a witness from God via the Holy Ghost that it was true. There was at the time no doubt or hesitancy on my part in what I needed to do. I was led down into the waters of baptism and had family and friends there to witness the wonderful event. Afterwards I felt as Scrooge did in The Christmas Carol - "light as a feather" after he had a change of heart. Indeed I had such a wonderful spiritual experience that I look back on it on awe. I have since felt that it was a blessing from Heavenly Father to help me make the 180 degree turn needed to change my life to conform to the teachings of Jesus Christ. In the intervening years I have not been perfect but I have tried to keep the commandments and serve God and my fellow man to the best of my ability. I am so grateful for our Saviour Jesus Christ for giving the gift of repentance so that I can overcome my sins and weaknesses. His atonement on our behalf was the ultimate sacrifice as a result of the great and perfect love that He and Heavenly Father have for us. The opportunity to return and live with them as families is just wonderful. The plan of salvation, or plan of happiness, provided by them is most glorious, ultimately uplifting, and so true. I so testify in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

Throughout my life as a member of the LDS Church I have tried to be obedient and faithful. I have tried to keep the covenants that I have made. I have not been perfect in doing these things but God has been merciful.I know that my faith has grown as I have served my fellowmen and kept the commandments. There is no other life like it!
