Hi I'm Jonathan

I'm a desert rat, I enjoy the game of basketball, I am loving and patient older brother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in the valley of the sun, and have lived here ever since. I am the oldest of 4 brothers and am currently preparing for a mission to Cape Verde, small islands off the coast of Africa, for approximately 2 years speaking the language of Portuguese. My favorite hobby of all is playing basketball, and watching my hometown NBA team, Phoenix Suns, just strengthens my love for the game. Spending time with my friends from my adolescent and college years are memorable moments that will always stick with me and having the opportunity to create new memories with new friends is just one of the many things I look forward to doing on my mission on the other side of the world. I also enjoy watching hilarious movies and sitcoms that will give me an arsenal of appropriate funny quotes or puns to use in any awkward situation. There is nothing more intimidating for me than a person that doesn't smile, so I always make it a challenge to bring a smile to that persons face. Yes, even you my friend will shed a smile when we meet one day :)

Why I am a Mormon

The way the gospel found its way into my home and into my life is through the love and joy of an English teacher that invited my mother to church. My mom was seeking guidance and ways to strengthen the bond of our family, that was dwindling in firmness. After accepting the lessons from a companionship of elders, she opened up her heart and accepted the invitation to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized by someone holding the authority from God. Her example and the persistence of the sister missionaries that followed right after, allowed me to open up to gaining a faith that can not be torn down by other people's criticism. Just taking the time to kneel down and pour out my heart onto out Heavenly Father for wisdom and obtaining a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. It is never to late to change your manner of living in the way that our Heavenly Father can bless us more and more. I am a strong witness of the love and patience the Lord has for all of us, I invite you to think about the direction you are taking and ask our Heavenly Father, through prayer, the people we must turn too; the education we must obtain, and the loved ones we need to continue to cherish. I know that he understands each and everyone of us, He is willing to help us through our desire to change. The spirit that I feel everyday strengthens that testimony and I say all this and more in the name of the Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

My first and only calling that I have had in the church over the span of three years has been ward missionary leader. Being a ward missionary leader allowed me too coordinate with the missionaries, the people dressed in white shirts or wearing long colorful dresses that wear a black name tag, and the people in the church. More importantly, I was able to get to know so many amazing people trying to learn more about the church by willing to listen to the missionaries. It was a great experience because I made many new friends, especially when we met together every Friday at 7 to play soccer, and volleyball! Ya did I mention that I was able to organize sports activities too. So many amazing memories that I made and friendships that I grew while serving as ward mission leader.
