Hi I'm Dwight.

I was born and raised in Honolulu HI but for most of my adult life I have lived in several other states in the USA. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am of Okinawan extraction with both sets of my grandparents migrating from Okinawa to Hawaii in the early 1900s. As such, I was raised in Hawaii and attended public schools there through high school. After that I went to college and obtained a degree in accounting. I served in the U.S. military, worked for a public accounting firm for a time, and recently retired as a Federal government employee. I am married with three adult children and nine grandchildren. I like listening to music, especially those from the 1950 - 60s and also the big band sounds of the past. I enjoy family, sports, gardening, and helping people.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized a member of the church when I was a child; my mother having been converted previously during the 1940s. From my early years, I always believed and had desires to do what was right but I did not always know the reality of Jesus Christ and how His teachings could bless my life for good. That testimony came gradually over a long period of time. I am still fully active in the church because I have a personal witness of the divinity of Jesus Christ, that He is the only Begotten Son of the Father and the Savior of all mankind. My testimony of Him has grown a step at a time through searching the scriptures (especially the Book of Mormon), during moments of prayer, by serving other people, and while enduring some difficult trials and challenges in life that I never thought I would ever be called on to experience. Through all of this, I have felt of His love, understanding, caring, and strength. As such, I have a deep testimony of His reality and a growing love for Him. He is the sure foundation of my life.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of our church for well over 50 years and love it. Through all this time, I have had many opportunities to show my gratitude for our Savior Jesus Christ and all He has done for us by helping and serving others. As a young adult, I served as a missionary for our church in Japan. Since then, I have had numerous opportunities to serve in our church organizing and overseeing programs for and/or ministering to the needs of families, adults, youth, and children. Most recently, we have been teaching children about our the Savior and His doctrines. At times, these service opportunities have been very time consuming and even stressful. However, most of the time it has just been fun! Always it has been a source of great joy, growth, and satisfaction.
