Hi I'm Alyssa Whalen

I am a Southern California girl, a college student, a photographer, I am a singer and a dancer. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 20 year old College Student. I have always been very creative and loved using my hands to dig into thing. I like to consider myself athletic. My favorite sports are soccer, Swing dance, Latin dance and Hula. I started photographing when I was in high school and since decided that photography was what I want to do for the rest of my life. It is how I express myself. I've never been good at words, but I can take a picture and it can describe exactly how I am feeling. I have Anxiety and that is a trial I face every day of my life. Some days are better than others. But I know that I can over come this illness and be made whole through Jesus Christ. I lean on Him every day for strength. I sing in a professional choir called the Orange County Millennial Choirs and Orchestras and I love every minuet of it!! It has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. Music is one of my favorite ways to worship the Savior. Singing brings joy to my soul!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is the only thing that has never failed to make me happy. With all of the many trials I have faced in my life, the constant companions I have always had was my Savior Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. They have never failed me and never led me down the wrong path. When my life seams to heavy to go on, I know I have someone to talk to that will never leave me and will help lift me back up again. I have seen the more I trust in them, the easier things get. I never want to live without that!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by tying to always smile. I am truly happy because I live my religion to the fullest and I want people to see that and wonder why. I don't hide my religion, I am proud of it! I go to church every Sunday and I teach the women ages 18+ in my ward once a month. It's a lot of fun! I love listening to uplifting and happy music. And one of my most favorite things is going out with the missionaries to help them teach other about Christ and the Atonement. I loving seeing other people become happier through Him.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Alyssa Whalen
Families are the center of our religion. Our families always come first. We believe that we can be sealed for time and all eternity to our families in the Temple. This means when we get married, we do not say "till death do us part." We say "For time and all eternity." We believe that once we pass on we will still be with our families in the after life. I come from a part member family so we are not sealed. Not knowing if I will be able to be with my family when we pass on scares me so much. But I that has only made my testimony stronger in knowing when I get married I want it to be in the Temple so I can be sealed to my husband and future children for Time and All Eternity.
