Hi I'm Brooke

I've lived in 5 different states. I am a microbiologist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a senior in college studying Microbiology. I work in a lab on campus studying cellular metabolism in yeast. My goal is to get a Ph.D. in molecular biology after serving a mission for the Church. I hope to have a family of my own someday too. I love to swim, and I was on swim teams for years when I was younger. I love to travel! I've been to England, Italy, Honduras, the Bahamas, Belize, Mexico, and the United States. I don't know how to play the piano, but I've always wanted to learn. I also love funny jokes and cheese!

Why I am a Mormon

I love this Gospel and it brings such joy to my life! I am a member of this Church because I know it's true, and it helps me to be a better person every day. People sometimes ask me how I could possibly study science and believe in God at the same time. I believe in God because I have prayed to Him and He has answered me through the power of the Holy Ghost. If science does not coincide with religion, then it is because there is something we don't completely understand yet. I testify that we are children of our Heavenly Father, created in His likeness. I know that our Savior Jesus Christ lives. He really did come to this earth, suffer and die for us, and was resurrected the third day. I have a strong testimony that the Atonement can heal broken hearts and souls heavy with sin. I know that President Monson and the other apostles are true prophets of God. I know that if we listen to and follow their counsel that we can return to live with our Heavenly Father again. I know that families can be together for eternity if we do the Lord’s will and are sealed in His Holy House. I can't wait to see my grandparents again. I have a burning testimony of the Book of Mormon. I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that it is true! I know it can bring us closer to God, which helps us feel His love. I have a testimony that Joseph Smith truly was the prophet of God who was called to translate the Book of Mormon. He earnestly prayed for an answer of which church to join, and Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ really did appear to him in the Sacred Grove. Just like Joseph Smith prayed to receive an answer to his question, I know that we can receive answers to our own questions by the power of the Holy Ghost. I know that Heavenly Father loves all of His children, and that is why I want to serve a mission. I want everyone to have this Gospel in his or her life. It is the surest way to be happy!

How I live my faith

I will soon be serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in New Zealand, but I've served in many callings in the Church. I've organized activities for young single adults, led a group of young women, and helped with indexing names for genealogy. I've always tried to magnify my callings, no matter how large or small they appeared.
