Hi I'm Alex Lewis

I'm a proud Canadian. I'm a student, a musician, an athlete, and a fun-seeker. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a ranch just outside the small town of Cardston, Alberta. I love people, music, sports, nature, travelling, photography, reading, and really, just life in general! I'm a BYU student preparing to serve as a full time missionary in the Utah Salt Lake City South Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised a Mormon, and as I grow older and learn more about myself and the world around me, I am continually reminded of how grateful I am for my knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ! Ever since I was young, I have known that I am truly a daughter of God, and that he knows me personally, hears and answers my prayers, and loves me beyond my comprehension. He wants me to be happy and successful in this life, and in the next; and He has provided a way for me to return home to Him. It is through the ordinances of this restored gospel- through faith in Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end- that we can receive all the blessings that our Heavenly Father has in store for us. The teachings of this gospel bring me so much peace and joy! I have been given knowledge of what is right and what is wrong, and I know that keeping God's commandments is the only way to find true and lasting happiness. I know that when I sin, I can repent and receive complete forgiveness. I love my family, and I know that through the ordinances of the temple I can be sealed to them and be with them for all eternity. I am so thankful for the scriptures, and especially the Book of Mormon, for the teachings contained within them and the knowledge that they provide. This gospel really is true, and I feel so incredibly blessed to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday to partake of the sacrament and listen to talks and lessons. I am a member of our ward music committee, so I play the piano for hymns during sacrament meeting. I also have a visiting teaching assignment- I go with my companion, another woman in my ward, and we talk and share a brief spiritual message with the ladies that we have been assigned to visit. We just make sure that they are happy and well, and offer to help in any way that we can. I also live my faith by praying individually and with my family, studying the scriptures each day- also individually and with my family, and by trying to serve others in any way that I can just as our Savior, Jesus Christ exemplified!

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Alex Lewis
All Mormons are not required to serve a mission, it is completely an individual decision! However, it is considered a priesthood responsibility for worthy and able young men to serve missions, and others who desire to serve are gladly welcomed. I made the decision to serve a mission because I have been so incredibly blessed to be a member of this church, and I really do consider it a privilege to show my love for others and the Lord by sharing the gospel! The Lord has given me everything and has blessed me immensely, I honestly feel like giving up 18 months of my own time is the very least I can do to give back to Him!! Show more Show less
