Hi I'm Jeff Newbold

I'm a musician, a grammar freak, and a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in Utah my whole life and I am perfectly okay with that! I'm a musician...I sing and play the guitar, the drums, and the piano. I love playing music, listening to music, watching music, talking about music...yeah! Music. I also really enjoy grammar. Weird? Probably. Feel free to tell me if there are any gross errors on this page, because even grammar freaks make mistakes! I am currently serving as a missionary in Pennsylvania for 2 years, and I love it!

Why I am a Mormon

The peace and blessings that come from being a member of Christ's restored church would be enough to keep me on the path; however, I know that the gospel is true. Having grown up in the church, I never had too much of a reason to question my beliefs until the time came for me to serve a mission. I realized then that I needed to know for myself that this was true before I spent 2 years of my life testifying that it is true. I asked God in humble prayer, not really knowing what to expect as an answer. What came to me was a realization, over time, that it all made sense. It all makes so much sense. Everything that I've learned from the church has prepared me to become a better man, and eventually a better father. The happiness that this gospel brings is unbelieveable, and it's all true. And I know that these blessings are available in the eternities. I'm so grateful for the opportunity I have to be with my family forever, and I'm grateful for the knowledge that the gospel brings. I love my Father in Heaven and what he's done for me in my life.

How I live my faith

I've had many opportunities throughout my life to serve others...that's part of what the church gives me. The numerous leadership opportunities I've had have been huge learning experiences and I've felt the love of my Savior as I do what I can to bless the lives of others. As a missionary, I have the opportunity every day to share this message with people who are searching for something more in this life. It's been truly humbling to see the effect this gospel message can have on those who accept it.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Jeff Newbold
Throughout time, God has always called prophets. These prophets have the authority to act in God's name to lead and guide his children. They establish the correct principles and ordinances that we need in order to obtain eternal happiness. The Bible is a record of the teachings of many of these prophets, as well as our Savior, Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible to be the word of God! However, as Amos 3:7 states, God always reveals His secrets to His servants: the prophets. Why would God call these prophets in times of old and then decide to forsake us, denying us opportunity for further direction from Him? God wants all of His children to return to Him, and He works through prophets to accomplish that purpose. Therefore, it was necessary that God would call a prophet in these last days to restore His authority. These prophets teach the correct principles and authorize the performance of proper ordinances such as baptism. God is an unchanging God...he has and always will work through prophets. The Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Joseph Smith was a continuation of a pattern that has existed since the beginning of Man. Show more Show less
