Hi I'm Stephen

I grew up in Arizona. I am one of eight siblings. I love Roller Coasters. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am one of eight siblings. I love hanging out with my family and friends, but most of the time we just play video games, or just watch T.V. When we aren't glued to a screen, we like to go out to our postage stamp backyard and take a breath of fresh(ish) air. We also enjoy jumping on our trampoline. I am the oldest of my eight siblings, and therefore, have a lot of responsibility. I am setting an example by going on a mission. I am called to the Peru Lima Central Mission, and i will report January 2nd, 2014 and will be there for two years.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church. I grew up a mormon, and knew the church was true because my parents did. I never thought to challenge my beliefs until my church leader challenged me to. He said "Do you know for yourself that the gospel is true?" and I, in reply said "Honestly? No." He then challenged me to read the Book of Mormon, and after I was done, pray about it. I did, and 100 days later, I was on my knees, praying to God to give me an answer. After my prayer was over, I received a peaceful feeling, and knew it was my answer. That Is not the only reason i know the church is true. I had another experience. In this gospel, we believe that we are not held responsible for Adams sin. We believe we are accountable for our own sins. On one occasion, I was roughhousing with my siblings, and accidentally hurt one of my brothers. I apologized, and he forgave me, but I still felt guilty. My mother had talked about "turning it over" meaning I would pray to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and ask them to forgive me my sins, but I had never tried. That night, I still felt guilty, and so I got down on my knees. I prayed and asked that my sins would be taken from me, throughout the atonement, or what Jesus suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane for. I asked that the atonement take effect in my life, and I immediately felt a weight lifted of my shoulders. I felt such a difference, and love that it brought tears to my eyes. I bear testimony, I know this gospel is true. The sure way to find out yourself is to pray, with true heart and real intent. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Each Sunday, I enjoy our three hour church service. I am sometimes asked to speak. When I am asked, i will prepare a few days in advance, and refine my talk. The first hour is our service, and we are taught (or speak) on our beliefs. The second hour of our service is gospel classes. I teach a class of 8-9 year olds, and teach them about our beliefs. The third hour is another class, and my class and I go into a room and are all taught. Sometimes, or church will hold a potluck or an activity, and i will participate in that.
