Hi I'm Jacob Crump

I'm a health informatics student. I'm a soccer and basketball referee. I'm a Mormon

About Me

My name is Jacob. I am attending college studying Biomedical Informatics. I have always had a strong desire to have a career in which I could help others, so going into the medical field is my way of doing so. I find pleasure in computers and their capabilities. I love solving problems and challenging myself to go beyond what I am currently, to stretch myself. I enjoy playing and following sports such as football and basketball; there are not a lot of things that I like more than to sit down and watch a game with my family or friends. I love spending time with people, especially talking and getting to know others. My life centers around Jesus Christ and His gospel. My life is also heavily involved with my family. My fondest memories have been time spent with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a home where gospel principles and Jesus Christ's doctrine were the centerpiece of our learning. My parents taught through both word and example the importance of obedience to God's commandments. This fostered an environment in which I could learn how to live and to eventually obtain a testimony of the restoration of the gospel. Although it was apparent all of my life that my parents knew that the LDS church was Christ's church restored again on the Earth, I knew that I needed to obtain a testimony of my own. I sought out all my life through prayer and the reading of the Book of Mormon to feel the spirit, who is the source of being able to feel the truth. Eventually in my teenage years, I received those feelings needed to confirm the things that I hoped to be true. I am a Mormon because I know the blessings that come through serving our Heavenly Father's children and obeying His commandments. I know that this is indeed the Church of Jesus Christ and that there can be no greater happiness found than to be a part of and serving in His church.

How I live my faith

I pray daily and always immerse myself in the scriptures. I seek to serve others in whatever capacity I can. I visit other members in my ward to whom I am assigned as a "Home Teacher." I am involved in keeping track of membership records in my ward. I am a ward organist and enjoy playing the piano for various meetings. I hope to follow our Savior by developing charity and love for others.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Jacob Crump
We are baptized to show our love and devotion to God. We make a promise to Him to keep His commandments and to remember Him. We are baptized by immersion to signify "death" of an old life and a new "birth." One must be baptized by someone who has proper authority. This authority is found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Show more Show less

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Jacob Crump
Jesus Christ is directs what happens in this church. The prophet is chosen from the group of apostles who have been chosen through revelation that comes from God. The senior apostle, or the one who has been an apostle the longest, is chosen to be President of the church. Show more Show less
