Hi I'm Lamont McPherson

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised (mostly) in Washington State. I have also lived in Idaho, California, Arizona, Virginia, Texas, Ohio, Italy, and Utah. I had the privilege of serving an LDS mission in Spain. I worked for the USAF who paid for my schooling. While in the military, I deployed to Iraq. Now, as a civilian, I work as a psychiatrist. I enjoy basketball, weight lifting, triathlon, traveling, and spending time with my family. In our marriage, we have struggled with the heartbreaking challenge of infertility. But thanks to some unselfish birth-parents (with whom we have wonderful relationships), my wife and I were blessed to be able to adopt two wonderful daughters.

Why I am a Mormon

When I read the Book of Mormon, I received a strong witness from the Holy Ghost that it was a book of scripture from Heavenly Father. The way I feel when I do those things that I learn about in church and scripture study makes me happier and is a witness from the Holy Ghost that I am living truth. I am happier and more at peace when I live according to these teachings.

How I live my faith

The Gospel of Jesus Christ gives me meaning in my life. During times of trouble and challenge, it is my anchor. I try to incorporate the teachings of Jesus Christ in all that I do. As a psychiatrist, I try to see others as Christ would see them, as my brothers and sisters, which helps me to empathize with their hardships so that I can help relieve and share their burdens. Serving others personally and professionally brings me satisfaction, joy, and purpose. Knowing that my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ, love me, makes all the difference in the world. When I read from the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and other books of scripture, and as I try to apply these teachings in my life, I feel peace, so that when the chaos of life and it's challenges swirl around me, I can maintain my perspective and keep my hope.
