Hi I'm Kyle

I love playing sports and being outside, I want to study medicine, I learned to speak spanish living in Argentina and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love sports and the outdoors, I just like being out of the house and doing productive things. I guess I'm not an extremely social person, I definitely love being around my friends, but I do also enjoy having a little me time every once in a while. I think I like being alone sometimes, because it gives me a chance to think and and take a break from the everyday craziness. When you are studying in college full time and working part time like I am things in the rest of your life can get a little complicated. I know what it's like trying to balance the social, the academic, the physical, and the spiritual in your life. All I know is that I'm not strong enough to do it all, but I know that going to church and learning about God and his plan for us His children has helped me a lot to comprehend why I'm here and given me strength to do lots of things that I normally wouldn't have been able to do. A clear conscience and a good attitude is the recipe for one happy life, I definitely know that.

Why I am a Mormon

For a lot of reasons. I must say that it makes me sad to see how little knowledge so many people actually look to obtain about Jesus Christ, God or religion in general. These days it doesn't seem to be the popular thing on the block, which makes me sad. It also makes me sad to see so many people that are religious not respect differing religious beliefs of other people. I'm sure Mormons aren't exempt from that list of people either, the church teaches that we should respect others beliefs, but unfortunately there are probably Mormons, like everyone, that just don't do it. If you have ever had a negative experience with Mormons I would urge you to not let it affect the way you view the entire religion. My family has been members of this church for a few generations, you could say I had a BIG Mormon background from the beginning, it would make sense that I would be a member of this church conforming to my families traditions, but that's not the reason I continue to believe in this church and all of it's teachings. The principles that this church teaches are beautiful and gaining a testimony of them isn't something we get from doing nothing. If we want to know if they're true we need a few things. First a sincere desire to know if God is real, what He is like, and maybe most importantly to know if He has a Plan for us. Just like Christ taught in the Bible, this church teaches that we can know the truth of these things through an influence called the Holy Ghost. But it's not as simple as just praying and hoping for a voice in our head. God asks us to study it out. I know studying the Book of Mormon and surprisingly the Bible especially have proven to me that EVERY claim of this church is valid, and that's why I have no doubt that this is the true church of Jesus Christ, restored, as in times past, by a living prophet with real authority from God; and it strengthens my testimony that there is a life after this one and that we do have Heavenly Father that loves us.

How I live my faith

I have had a few different callings in the church, including home teaching which is something everyone does. I quite like it, all it is is a visit to a person that includes a short spiritual lesson. I know that if I don't have a lot of confidence with another person I definitely don't share other things very personal with them. All I know is that I want people to be able to trust in me, I know I'm far from perfect, but I know that I can help others if they will just let me. That's why I try to be direct and sincere with everyone I talk to. In one calling I had, I was in charge of organizing events with the members. Just little events that bring people together to have some good clean fun and build us up spiritually. Mini-games, sports, movies, music and dancing and more with just a little spiritual part are common among the activities. I've also taken part in being a leader among the young men (ages 12-18) in my wards at home, and just had the calling of trying to make sure everyone is in harmony with their respective callings and just trying to help everyone get the most out of the church services. I also took part in the making of assignments on Sundays that have to do with the church services among the young men. All of it was a fun and learning experience for me and others. I know our callings in the church give us a chance to serve and to learn, I'm grateful for all that I've had.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

In this church are received the blessings of a greater knowledge of the plan of God for us, His children. There is so much intrigue in the Christian world and the entire world about the purpose of YOUR life. God sent you here because He loves you and wants you to learn and grow so that you can slowly become more like Him. It's a process of discovering all the secrets and the tricks of the game of life, but thanks to the commandments that God has given us lovingly, we can start that process and accelerate a little faster. In life we are ALWAYS either fulfilling this objective or not, I have learned that we are complicated people and we are never the same one day as we are the other, we change everyday and every minute in some small way, but the ultimate goal would be that we are always changing for the better, and when not, that we repent and go the other way. If we do that, one day, sooner than later, and more easily, we will be able to enter into the presence of God after having the necessary mercy of our Savior Jesus Christ to cleanse us sufficiently. And not only ourselves either, God did not intend for us to be alone on earth, that's why he gave us a family, He does not intend for us to be alone in Heaven either, that's why through this, His church, are available the blessings of sealing us, husbands to wives, to children, to parents and all family for eternity. That's why children and family are so important, what's most important in life is what lasts the longest :) Show more Show less
