Hi I'm Dale

I grew up in Topeka, Kansas. I am married with five children and nine grandchildren.

About Me

I am a father of 5 children and have nine grandchildren. I am an amateur astronomer. I enjoy hiking and doing things outside. I enjoy spending time with my wife as she is my best friend. We enjoy doing everything together. I work in the lawn and garden industry and love outdoor power equipment; mowers, trimmers, tractors, etc. Through my work I have had the opportunity to travel the world. I have been to places that I never thought imaginable and have been to every continent except Africa and Antarctica . I enjoy gardening and growing our own fruits and vegetables. My family is he most important thing to me. I am an adult convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was raised in the Midwest US and recently moved to the Pacific Northwest. Our family is still mostly in the Midwest and I miss them all since we are so far apart.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife introduced me to the Church. I was searching for meaning in my life and needed more that I had. I had been divorced and a daughter from that first marriage had passed away at 16 months due to a congenital heart condition. That daughter meant everything to me and I missed her terribly. When my current wife introduced me to the Church, I was impressed by the emphasis on family and that our family could be a forever family. I had always believed in God and heaven but I learned that it was just more than a place where I would go after I die and float around on clouds. Heaven is a place where my family can be together forever as a family unit. We will be together always. My wife is my best friend. We have always gotten along so well and we think as one. I was raised a Lutheran and making a change to the LDS faith was a difficult decision to make. I investigated the church for eight years before I joined. I wanted to make sure it was true. It is! I enjoy the fellowship of the saints and love going to church every Sunday and being with my church family.

How I live my faith

I faithfully attend my church meetings every week. Throughout most of my adult membership I have had the opportunity to work with young men and young women. I have thoroughly enjoyed that experience and opportunity as it has helped to learn and grow. I have taught gospel centered lessons, have organized youth activities and have served as a Scoutmaster. Recently I have had the opportunity to work with the older male members of the church. This has also been rewarding as it teaches me how to be a better husband and father and how to build strong bonds and relationships with other members of our group. I currently have the opportunity to work with three families in our ward as a Home Teacher. My companion and I strive to visit these families every month to serve and to help them. We are involved with our wards "empty nester" group which has helped us to meet others our age whose children are out on their own.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?
