Hi I'm Darnell Jackson

I'm a Mormon and I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona.

About Me

My wife Terri and I moved to Iowa in 2004 to be closer to her family. I was born and raised in Phoenix Arizona. I was a Baptist but really did not go to church to much. I met my second wife Terri in 1996 and married in 1999. We did not attend church. Shortly before we were about to move my Mom was diagnosed with cancer and passed in Oct 2004. I felt a strong desire to find a church but I wasn't sure I could convince Terri but I was determined we needed to go. We became members of a Christian Church and I held many positions in the church. In 2009 we started fostering children and in 2010 a little baby named Jayden came to our house to live adopted him in 2011. Our second son Christian came when he was 8 years old and we adopted him in Dec of 2012. We no longer do foster care as these two little boys keep us busy. There came a time we both realized we needed to leave our church but didn't know where we would go. We decided to pray about it. My sister-in-law has been LDS 46 years and I have so much respect and love for her and her faithfulness. That summer my nephew became active his wife was baptized and Terri and I went to my brother-in-law's baptism. Something happed at that Baptism. I felt God's spirit as never before and on the way home I told Terri we should become Mormon's. She said "We can look into it" but I said "We need to go this Sunday and we did and we met the Missionaries and soon began our lessons and were baptized Sept 24, 2011.

Why I am a Mormon

With all my heart I believe this is the restored church of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon is inspired word of God. My testimony just gets stronger and stronger. I'm so thankful in the later years of my life to find the true church, and be able to raise these two little boys placed in my and my wife's care in the church. Our journey has not ended - it is only just beginning. Darnell Jackson

How I live my faith

I live my faith day by day and it has been the most amazing years of our lives, and in ways the hardest. The road to the temple has been very challenging, yet we have gone to the temple now numerous times and are trying to make sure we go to the temple at least once every month. We decided early on that we would never give up. I am a Melchizedek Priesthood holder and it means everything to me and has helped me in every aspect of my life. I still have a long way to go but the example of Jesus and my Heavenly Father help me everyday. Family is so important to Mormons and it has helped me become a better husband, father, and person and when I fall short I have Jesus Atonement to cover over my sins and weaknesses. I want to show my sons a good example and to teach them at home all that Jesus wants them to know. I am thankful and grateful to have found the LDS church and I do not believe it was an accident but that Heavenly Father heard our prayer and knew our heart.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Darnell Jackson
Yes, Husband and Wife ( My Wife Terri and I) were sealed for time and eternity in the Winter Quarters Temple. Our sons Christian and Jayden were sealed to us for time and eternity in the Winter Quarters Temple. Our older daughter Heather and older son Chad we are working on getting them sealed to us in a Living Ordinance Sealing for they both passed away years ago. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Darnell Jackson
The Book of Mormon is another witness that Jesus Christ really lived, that Christ appeared, after His Resurrection, to the people in America, taught them His gospel, and formed His Church among them. The book contains the teachings of Jesus Christ, testifying of His Atonement and His love. It supports and verifies the Bible. Show more Show less
