Hi I'm Elena

I love God, Jesus Christ, and the Spirit. Pray, read, cross country running, musical instruments, flowers and philosophy.

About Me

I am a Mormon. I come from China. I joined the church when I was 16 years old. The best decision ever in my life! I love the gospel, my church, and the people. I went on a mission for my savior Jesus Christ. On my mission, I found my passion is missionary work. I love being Lord's missionary to preach the gospel to all nations. I want to do missionary work the rest of my life until all eternity. I love flowers, fresh air, blue sky and sunshine. I love to smile. I love learning languages, travel, cultures and people. I love to explore. I love reading books, drawing and Chinese calligraphy, musical instruments, yoga and running. I love to learn. On this earth, I want to be a good daughter, wife, and mother, an entrepreneur, and hopefully a lawyer that serve those in need. (Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference). But what I want the most is to know perfectly my Father in Heaven, and become more like my savior Jesus Christ who is humble and loving, and enjoy eternal happiness with my family and loved ones.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as an atheist/agnostic. I was taught evolution theory, and knew nothing about God or Jesus. Similar to what Lincoln once said, my religion was trying to do things that made me feel good afterwards, and not do things that would make me feel bad. I tried to follow my conscience, which now I know is the Spirit or Light of Christ. Even as a child, I learned the simple truth. I know that when I do something right or when I am kind to people around me, I feel better. As a result, I want to be better. Then people love me and I love people more. I like that I am happier, and people around me are happier. I know that there are different ways of experiencing reality or receiving truth. We are not merely physical bodies moving on earth. We have emotions, spiritual needs, and unique qualities or personalities. We have joy and pains that nobody could see or sense. There are many ways that we can receive truth. Truth makes us happy and live a better life. I found the fullness of truth through this church. I know that whatever is true is discernible(simple and plain), applicable, and brings good fruit in life. I know that we all have spirit. The spirit yearns for light. Light comes from truth. Truth comes from searching, seeking and following God through faith. Faith is not have perfect knowledge. It is a principle of action that enable us to navigate through confusion, darkness and uncertainties. We can have faith by trusting God, hope for good things to come, create a bright vision, and act upon righteous principles even when we do not know or see at the present. I invite you to experiment upon the virtue of words of God by reading and praying about the Book of Mormon. I know that we can all know truth through faith, humility and love. The gospel of Jesus Christ is what makes me a better person every day because it teaches me correct and eternal principles that allows me to improve, understand my purpose on earth, and grow closer to my Savior who is perfect.

How I live my faith

I love going to church because it feels like heaven on earth. It feels like home. There are so many happy and good people at church. We are all brothers and sisters! We all have callings/responsibilities at church. All callings are volunteering service at church. My first calling was new member coordinator. I greet people who are new to the local church group. I like to help make people feel good and welcomed, and know that I can be their friend and support. My second calling was a birthday coordinator. We got flowers and chocolates and sing happy birthday songs for sisters in my ward. I know every soul is precious and beautiful. My fourth and fifth callings are both teachers for Sunday church classes. I learned so much from the discussions and insights from church members. Everyone has something unique and valuable to offer. My sixth calling is Relief Society President, which coordinate and work with sisters to help bring support, relief and service to people in need, and strengthen the friendship, love and growth among sisters. My favorite thing is to get to know and love the sisters. I love each one of them. They are truly daughters of God with amazing talents and gifts. My seventh calling was to be ward missionary that I helped with local missionary work. I love helping people to grow their faith, love and support them in their effort to pursue truth and happiness. My eighth calling was to be gospel principle teacher again that I learned so much from the students. Then I was called by a Prophet of God to serve a full time mission in Salt Lake City, Utah and Federal Way, Washington, which truly changed my life. I labored with many amazing souls that love God, and love with all my heart all the people that I met on my mission. Now I have a sacred life long calling as a returned missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! My currently calling is to teach Preach My Gospel to the members and future missionaries. I LOVE all my callings!

What is faith?

Elena
Faith is not to know perfectly but to trust perfectly. On this earth, it is impossible for us to know perfectly because we are limited in many ways, physically, mentally and spiritually. We have to have faith in order to live in this world. Even if we think we do not need or have faith, we still have to have faith. To type on this computer, I must have faith that it would work and operate properly. To act and expect anything to happen we must first have some confidence, trust or faith in something. On the other hand, God is omnipotent and omnipresent. God is not limited like we are. He can experience all and see from a all-encompassing, holistic and eternal perspective. I love that US dollars says In God We Trust. Who else is better than God to put our trust in? Having faith means even if we do not know what future will be; we can still hope for better by relying on our Savior Jesus Christ, His infinite and perfect Atonement. I know through personal prayer and revelation that He has suffered and died for all the sins, mistakes and problems of humanity. Faith in Jesus Christ is truly the key to life because it gives us power over sins and mistakes, and allow us to create a future that is different from our past. We are never alone when we have faith, we are never sad when we have faith, we are never worthless when we have faith in Jesus Christ. Faith in Jesus Christ is the spring of life. Because Jesus is the life and light of the world. Show more Show less
