Hi I'm Heather

I'm from Utah. I want to be a teacher. I taught for 5 months at an orphanage in Liberia. I love music and art and God.

About Me

I am studying elementary education. I took six months off to go to Liberia to teach in an orphan home. I've worked as a tutor for four years and a para-educator (a classroom aid for special education classes) for three. I come from a family of nine. Two of my sisters are married, but I am not. I grew up in the church and I know that it's true.

Why I am a Mormon

Because it makes sense. I'm a very logical person. I believe everything has order and patterns even if we can't understand it all yet. The gospel taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints helps me expand my understanding of the world around me and the world inside of my head. For me, this is the greatest blessing I have been given. Treasures of knowledge are literally all around waiting to be sought after. This knowledge brings me immeasurable joy.

How I live my faith

Most recently, I volunteered my entire life to the service of my brothers and sisters in Liberia. While I was there, I had the opportunity to teach music classes to the members of the church in my district. I also got to teach music in the primary in my branch. Now, I serve my family when I can and do my best to show gratitude for all the infinite blessings I've been given. I look forward to new opportunities to serve.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Heather
Our church focuses on strengthening families because they are central to God's plan of Happiness. I was taught that no matter how far away I wander, I can always return to my family for support and guidance. All people are part of our heavenly family. Every person deserves to have a place to go to be taught and loved. The church offers the knowledge of this eternal family as a welcome mat to all who are lonely and in need of comfort...which is all of us. We are not asked or expected to endure the trials of this life alone. Temporal families are a blessing to us that can be made eternal through the blessings of temple ordinances. Show more Show less
