Hi I'm Ann

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am married to my best friend and am a mother of 5 children. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of 5 beautiful children, 4 boys and 1 daughter. I love to spend time outside. I love to hike the mountains around my home. As a family, we spend most of our spare time outside hiking, skiing and adventuring. I love to read. Literature takes me to different places and times. Reading is something I do just for me and my own well-being. I enjoy cooking for my family. Sitting around the dinner table every night is very important to me. It is hard to do with busy teenagers but it is my favorite time of the day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an active LDS family. I was baptized when I was 8 years old. For much of my growing up years I relied on the believes of others rather then my own convictions. When I was 19 years old, I went on a 6 month study abroad to Jerusalem. For the first time I immersed myself in the scriptures and truly had to ask for myself whether the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored through Joseph Smith. I gained my own testimony of the truthfulness of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I felt the spirit. I knew, for myself, that it was where I wanted to be. As time passes, those experiences fade. I have to constantly remind myself of the feelings that I felt. A testimony needs constant nourishment. There have been times when my testimony has wilted and starved. But, I have always found a way to get it growing again. I have a strong testimony of prayer. I know that my Heaven Father knows who I am and what I need. I strongly believe that even if I don't understand something right now, that eventually I will figure it out with the Lord's help. This journey we are on is like a big puzzle. I have all the outside pieces in place. I have a firm testimony of the basics of prayer, tithing, Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, the Plan of Salvation. These are my outside pieces. When I am confronted with something I don't understand, a puzzle piece that doesn't fit, I don't throw the whole puzzle away. I just set it aside and think about it. I study it out in the scriptures and in my mind. I believe that at some point I will have a completed puzzle, a true understanding of everything.

How I live my faith

Currently, I am working with the young girls ages 8-11 in the church. We learn new skills, create things, perform service for others, talk about ways we can be better daughters of God and sometimes we are just plain silly. Being a mother of only one daughter this is a special time for me to spend with her doing only girl things. It is great to see this group of girls bind. They are not all the same age. They are not all friends at school. But, because of the common goals they all have, they are loyal to each other. My family has spent the one day a month for the past 5 year at the homeless shelter in Salt Lake. We prepare and serve 400-500 sandwiches along with hot soup. I have learned a lot about the homeless community over the year. This experience has also taught my children many valuable lessons. There are so many people in our communities that need our help.
