Hi I'm Kayla Savage

I am a crazy, weird individual. I love to laugh, sing, dance and play sports and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am serving a mission in the Washington DC south mission in northern virginia. I am from a small town in North Logan, Utah where I grew up with three siblings. An older brother, younger brother, and younger sister. We are all really close and love spending time together. We traveled alot growing up and during those times we've created alot of lasting memories that I treasure. I was brought up to work hard for my dreams. I've always loved to push myself, and be diligent in all that I do. From a young age I set goals I wanted to accomplish and I would stop at nothing to make them happen. This pattern has continued throughout the years! I love to play volleyball and other sports, dance, sing, hike, swim, and do anything outdoors. After High School I worked for a year and then started beauty school. Four and a half months into the program I felt like I needed to pray about serving a mission. The answer was confirmed to me. I put beauty school on hold and worked until the end of the year to prepare for my mission. I love studying the scriptures, and praying to my Heavenly Father. Nothing brings me more peace than following guidance God gives me. I plan to go back and finish beauty school, then go onto further college after my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, but the main reason why is because I made the choice as a teenager to find out for myself if this church was true. All of the kids I went to church with just knew the church was true. They knew the Book of Mormon was true, and that Joseph Smith restored Christ's church, but I didn't know. It began to frustrate me and eventually I gave up trying. My mom told me to read the Book of Mormon, and to pray to know if what I was reading was the truth, and to really focus on how I felt when I read it. I took her advice. I soon found out as I was reading that I didn't want to stop reading the Book of Mormon. As I prayed about the Book of Mormon I felt excited for the next time I would get to read it. I took this for my answer. I felt so much joy reading the Book of Mormon. I finished the Book of Mormon, and decided to get a final answer that the Book of Mormon was translated by Joseph Smith. As I prayed I received the answer that it is was of God. I know it's still of God and that anyone who reads it will gain a strong understanding of God's love for them. That answer changed my life. I know that because the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith did indeed restore Christ's church. To know that I belong to Christs church is so amazing! I am a Mormon because I've seen the blessings that come into one's life as they act on faith to know truth. I know that Christ has laid out perfectly what path we need to follow, and I'm on that path.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many different ways. One way is by example. I know there are alot of people who don't believe the same way I do. In those instances, I stand firm to the beliefs I do have and if they ask questions I am open to answering them. If they don't ask questions I stick up for my beliefs, even if I am standing alone. I live my faith by living the gospel. There are commandments that I willingly follow because it shows my love for God. I live my faith my studying the scriptures daily, and pondering deeply on what I've studied. By praying to God I gain a strong relationship and trust with him. I know that he will never ask me to do something that isn't good for me. He knows my potential. I live my faith by striving to become like his son Jesus Christ. I'm not perfect, but I know as long as I'm trying everyday to become better, I am growing closer to him.
