Hi I'm Damon Socha

I grew up in a wonderful community on Whidbey Island in the Northwest portion of the U.S. Love my Wife and children.

About Me

My life has been a wonderful experience of challenges and blessings. A good portion of my life I lived with Bipolar Disorder but have since been blessed with healing relief. I attended college at Washington State and then later at Western Washington University. I enjoy spending time with my children and family. I currently work in the construction management industry as a Virtual Construction Director. I serve in the Church of Jesus Christ as a Bishop. My interests vary significantly. I have published several books on various topics and yet I also umpire and referee high school baseball and basketball. I enjoy my life, calling, work and family.

Why I am a Mormon

The answer to the question of my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not a complicated response. I possess sufficient spiritual experiences to know that Jesus is the Christ, that we have a loving Heavenly Father and that they watch over and care for us in very real and intimate ways. I know without a doubt that our Savior is the redeemer of the world. My heart and soul know through the workings of the Spirit that a prophet was sent to this earth to restore the Church of Christ that was established during his ministry and was lost to the earth. I know this prophet to be Joseph Smith and the subsequent prophets of the Church of Jesus Christ. I know that they have possess and do now possess the proper authority to administer the gospel and minister to the world. MY testimony of the gospel has come over years of spiritual experiences and confirmations. I have had great trials and blessings that have confirmed the existence and loving nature of a Heavenly Father. I can say without reservation that I know my Father and Savior and that we speak together on a frequent basis. I have found great happiness in following the examples provided in the Book of Mormon and Bible. I know them to be works of God. I know that anyone willing to follow the teachings of the prophets will obtain a similar happiness and peace in their life.

How I live my faith

My faith is an everyday part of my life. I have difficulty referring to it as a religion as to me it is a way of life. My faith is so much a part of me that it directs what I do and say and how I live. I am grateful to have a calling in the church. Currently I serve as a Bishop and enjoy the opportunity to minister, counsel and assist others in the development of their faith in Christ. I do not find the time I spend in service as a burden but as a great blessing in my life. I enjoy watching other grow in the gospel and develop sincere relationships with their Father in Heaven and Christ. I enjoy serving the youth of the ward and of the community. While I serve as a Bishop, I take time to serve my community and remain involved as a referee and umpire for high school sports. I find that for now this is the best way for me to remain involved and give back to my community while maintaining a balance with my other responsibilities as a husband, father and employee.
