Hi I'm Jeff Ellico

I'm a gun-advocate, a guitarist, a writer and reader of fantasy and sci-fi, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in raised in the Church, and was baptized when I was eight. My dad and my grandparents on my mom's side is a convert. I love firearms and anything to do with them and like to hunt and target shoot at long ranges. I like to read fantasy and sci-fi. Orson Scott Card's Ender Universe and Dean Hughes' Children of the Promise are my favorite series at the moment. I was the only Mormon within three classes of me growing up in school, and most of the school had never heard of the Church before. I started playing guitar ten months ago, and love it. I am the first missionary my ward has sent out in over ten years, and the first in my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in a very town with a very low LDS population, I got to see up close what life looked like in the outside world. I saw lots of people who never took religion seriously and didn't lived up to any moral code to speak of. They took the examples of their parents and tried endlessly to justify lives donated to selfishness and "having fun". I could see clearly how unhappy they were. I also saw how my parents, ward member families, and other strong and stalwart LDS people were living, and saw how happy they were. I knew that I would never want to trade, and that this is where I was meant to be. I love living my religion.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith by trying my hardest to live the rules God has set for me. I never swear, no matter how frustrated and angry I get, and spend my energy trying not to get frustrated or angry instead. I have never tried any serious drug, alcohol, tobacco, or marijuana, and I know that I never will. I refuse to lower my standards for any reason. I will not be content to accept any mediocrity or evil, and despise my shortcomings. I spend my time trying to improve myself, or to develop my skills. All this not because I am told to by some adult, but because I want to and know that its how I can be truly happy in life.
