Hi I'm Autumn

I am an older sister, type 1 diabetic, and missionary in the Florida Fort Lauderdale Spanish Speaking Mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the church. I am the oldest of 8 kids and have 3 brothers and 4 sisters. I also have two dogs who we also consider family. I got my associates degree from BYU-I in 2013 and am currently serving as a full time missionary in the Florida Fort Lauderdale, Spanish Speaking Mission. When I was 16 years old I started to get really sick and was admitted to the hospital. While I was there I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune disease that takes place when your immune system over corrects and attacks the insulin producing cells in the pancreas. You can not live with out insulin, so I have to take insulin injections several times a day through an insulin pump in order to live and stay healthy. Living with this disease is not easy, but it has given me a greater understanding and appreciation for the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I know that because of the Atonement, Jesus Christ knows exactly what we are dealing with. I know that we can turn to Him whenever we are struggling and are in need of support or comfort. Even though I would give this disease back in a heart beat, I am extremely grateful for the experiences it has allowed me to have and the people I have been blessed to meet.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because there is no doubt in my mind that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holds the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. The same gospel that was taught by Christ himself when he was on the earth. I know that we are children of a Heavenly Father who loves us so much and has provided a plan for us, a perfect plan, so that we can return back to Him and live with our families forever. I know that only through the Atonement of Jesus Christ is this plan possible. I am so grateful to know that I am daughter of a Father in Heaven who loves each and every one of us more than we can comprehend. I am grateful for the power of prayer and to know that no matter where I am at in this life, I can turn to prayer and to Heavenly Father for guidance, support and comfort. I know that because of the Atonement we can repent and become better each day. I know that our elder brother, Jesus Christ knows exactly what we go through each day because He already went through it. I know that no matter who we are or what we have done in this life, He will always be waiting for us, with open arms, to love us, walk by our side and sometimes carry us as we struggle and go through daily trials. I know that when I am trying to be more Christ-like I am a happier person and my personal struggles become bearable.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith in everything that I do. The gospel has brought so much happiness and hope into my life that I can not help but have the desire to share it with others. I try to live my life so that others can see the faith I have, especially in our Savior Jesus Christ. I try to love and see others the way that Christ would if he were living on the earth today.
