Hi I'm Erica Harger

I like to play my flute and am a caregiver and I am Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 4 children ages 5, 16, 17, and 17. I am a caregiver and love every minute of it. My hobbies are playing my flute and reading many things.

Why I am a Mormon

I was in the midst of the worst time of my life, lost and wondering in what I call total darkness. I was never happy. I have always believed in the power of prayer and did the only thing that I could think of and that was to kneel and pour my heart and soul out to Heavenly Father asking for guidance, someone to show me the way that He wanted me to go. A few hours later there were missionaries from the church at my door. These 2 young men were beyond patient with me and worked with me until the biggest questions were answered. From the moment I decided to get baptized I had the feeling that all would be ok. I knew that things would undoubtedly get worse before getting better because Satan didn't want to loose his grip on me. As time went on however things started to get better. Life started to level out and I was able to start to climb out of the dark hole that I was in with the help that only God could have given. Incidentally it turns out that the missionaries lived in the same complex I lived for the entire time I lived there. I guess it was not time for me to meet them until Heavenly Father provided the help I so desperately needed. Why do I continue to go to church and believe what the scriptures tell me? It is simple. life is hard and often not fair. It is cold and unforgiving. Without His love, grace, and mercy life would drain my soul of all the life that is there. Heavenly Father loves me and I love him. I feel his presence whenever I need guidance. When I stray from the church life again turns upside down and tries to swallow me up in despair. I no longer feel the spirit as I make the wrong choices. I choose to feel love and kindness over the negative feelings that harms my spiritual health and physical health.

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith by understanding that I am not perfect by any means. I don't make it to church as much as I like and there are many other things I can do better. I do however read my scriptures daily and pray many times throughout the day and night, and include my son with morning and night prayers. When I get down I just stop to think about all the blessings that Heavenly Father continues to grant me even when I don't always deserve it. I continue to strive to be as Christ like as I can be and understand that is the best I can do at this time.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Erica Harger
When we born we were born into a world of sin. For a short time we are not held accountable for the sins that we commit daily if we mean to or not but at sometime we are. As on earth when we do wrong we have to atone for it, make it right. In order to be received into Glory we must atone for our sins or else we will surely die a spiritual death as well as a physical one. We must be cleaned from our sins to be with GOD. The atonement is simply put the purification of the souls of those on the planet, though it is our responsibility to repent when we slip and sin. Jesus made that atonement for us. He suffered an unimaginable amount of pain and torment for each of us. He died physically on the cross, but he was also separated from Heavenly Father which was a spiritual death. By doing this on our behalf he paved the way for us to return to our father in Heaven. Show more Show less
