Hi I'm Shauna

I'm a pianist, accompanist, piano teacher, and a mother to a busy three year old. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a piano teacher and accompanist in Northern Virginia. I started teaching when I was 16 with the assistance of my mother who runs a successful piano studio in Utah. I taught upstairs while she taught downstairs and whenever I needed help, she was always there to mentor me along. Teaching is my passion. I love seeing the progress my students make and watching their confidence grow as they advance and reach their goals. I received my bachelors and masters degrees in piano performance pedagogy. Some of my other hobbies are quilting, sewing, and running. I recently finished my third half marathon in Annapolis, MD. I'm a 'social butterfly' and love spending time with my friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was taught how to pray as a young child and I've relied on prayer ever since I can remember. When facing difficult trials or making big decisions, I kneel down and pray to my Heavenly Father for guidance. When I read the Book of Mormon for the first time, I prayed to know if it was true. My prayer was answered through the Holy Spirit. The feeling of peace was unmistakable. I'm Mormon because it brings me happiness. It brings me comfort to know that I will see my loved ones again after this life. It brings me peace to know that Jesus suffered in Gethsemane for my mistakes and that through the Atonement, I can be forgiven.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite ways to serve is through music. I've enjoyed organizing musical numbers by working with singers and instrumentalists and helping them prepare to share their talents with our congregation during service. Coming together through music touches those who are performing and listening, bringing a feeling of peace. I know that this feeling of peace comes from our Heavenly Father.
