Hi I'm Lori

I grew up in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. I am a mother of five children. I am an athlete and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 26 years and am a mother of five children. As a family we enjoy anything outdoors but spend most of our family outing time hiking in the canyons of northern and southern Utah and occasionally doing a little geo-caching. I enjoy athletics and play basketball three mornings a week and indoor soccer one or two times a week. I also enjoy the association this provides with other neighbors and friends. I enjoy working in my yard and just being outside. I spent two years at Ricks College and earned my associates degree then attended BYU. I am currently a stay at home mom and enjoy helping my kids with homework and learning to develop their talents.

Why I am a Mormon

My family grew up in Pennsylvania. My maternal grandmother was a convert to the church but it was a struggle for her since her husband didn’t participate and the church influence was small. Fortunately a dedicated member of the church made sure that her children had a ride to church each week. My mother has remained a member of the church but my father was not a member. My father left our home when I was 12 and died when I was 15. The church teachings and its members served as a great source of strength for me while I was growing up. Because of the teachings I was guided to choose a particular pathway that offered safety and well-being. As I observed those around me and saw the life choices they were making and how destructive it was it caused me to be grateful for the influence of the Gospel. At age 21 I decided to serve a mission and was assigned to serve in Ventura California. Although the experience was difficult, being able to teach others the Gospel and seeing it’s influence in their lives strengthened me. As I have grown older I have continued to have more and more experiences of feeling our Heavenly Fathers love and seeing the blessings that have come to my life and my family. The intent of the Gospel is to inspire people to desire good so that love of God and love of neighbor is the focus of our lives. It has this influence on me. I have now made covenants with my Heavenly Father to do this my whole life and it continues to bring me joy.

How I live my faith

I believe in serving others and trying to lift other people. We have a mill close to our home that produces food for those who are in need. It relies on volunteers to do the packaging of the food. I love to volunteer there and have my name on a list anytime they don’t get enough volunteers. We also have a cannery nearby where I volunteer to work to provide for those in need. I currently have been asked to serve as the president of the women’s organization for our church in my area. This has provided me a great opportunity to be involved in the lives of many neighbors and friends and helping in whatever needs they have. I have also served the youth in my area by teaching them principles that help them in their lives and planning and participating in activities that allowed them to interact with each other and learn gospel principles. More than anything, everywhere I go I try to follow the example of Jesus Christ so those I come in contact with can feel the goodness that comes from applying His principles.
