Hi I'm Ken Johnson

I was born in Los Angeles, California. I was a dentist for over forty years and recently retired. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Baldwin Hills, a suburb of Los Angeles. All my life I have been active in sports. especially tennis and baseball. I attended college for three years and then served a two year mission for my church in Australia. When I returned I attended Dental School. I am married and have four children, three sons and a daughter. My wife and I now have five grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been the focus of my life. It gives me a reason to be the best person that I can be. The teachings of my parents and church leaders have made me what I am today. It gives me great comfort to know that I have a Heavenly Father that knows me and loves me and is there to communicate with me as I pray to him. He wants me to be happy and to share in all that he has. He has promised me that my family can be with me for all eternity because I have been married by the proper authority in his holy temple. I am grateful to have a living Prophet here on the earth who speaks for God and tells us what we need to do to return to him. I know that the prophets of the past have given us the scriptures to help guide my life. I know that the true church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth through our early prophet Joseph Smith. By the power of God he translated an ancient record written by early American prophets. I know this book, the Book of Mormon, is a true record of God's dealings with the early inhabitants of the American continents. The resurrected Jesus Christ appeared to these people and gave them the same teachings that the people of the Bible received in that area of the world. I am so grateful to the Lord to know that families can be together for ever. I know that our savior Jesus Christ died for us and because of this we can, through proper living and keeping the Lord's commandments, once again return to the presence of God. I know all these things because the Lord has answered my prayers and through the inspiration of the Holy Ghost has given me a strong testimony that the Church is his church and the teachings are true. Most of all, I am a Mormon because I know that the teachings found in this church have been given to us to make us happy. This is the work of God.

How I live my faith

It is important for me to teach my family how to be good friends and neighbors by living the way our Heavenly Father wants us to live. We try to participate in community service projects and donate our time in things like Booster Clubs for our High School when my sons were participating in sports, umpiring little league games, and generally trying to set a good example for those we associate with. Our family is the most important thing to us. That is why our favorite things to do are centered around them. At the present time my wife and I are serving a full time mission so that I can be a part of this wonderful work that has given us so many blessings in the past.
