Hi I'm Aryn

Hello my name is Aryn and I'm LDS!!! I love the church and its teachings with all of my heart and know they are true.

About Me

Hello! I was born and raised in the church. My parents were both only children and both converts to the church. Neither of my Grandparents joined the church so my parents marked the first members of the church in my ancestry line. They did not get married in the temple but after having 5 children, 20 years after marriage, we got sealed as a family. I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters making me the baby. I grew up in the church but growing up as a member in California was hard. There aren't many members my age and tons of temptations everywhere. I struggled but always found myself returning to church. To the gospel of Christ because when I go to church and live a worthy life I am happy beyond comprehension. I love the gospel and with all my struggles I will never deny the gospel to be true. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I say it proudly!

Why I am a Mormon

At first I was "Mormon" because it's all I ever knew. I was baptized at the age of 8 and went to church every Sunday because it was something I was supposed to do. I always knew the church to be true because I felt it in my gut but I never had a "complete" testimony until I reached the age of 21. I decided to get on my knees and REALLY ask the Lord if this gospel was true. Now I'd love to say I got the answer right away but I didn't. It took lots of scripture study and praying till finally one day I was REALLY praying hard. I began to cry and ask the Lord if this was true. If this was for me. I got this warm happy feeling. I began to smile and knew that I could not be any happier in any other religion. The gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I am a member of the true church of Christ and I will never question that again. I hope that all of you can feel this happiness I have inside me. I am LDS and I'm proud!

How I live my faith

There's not too many members in my area but when we get together were a family. I attend a YSA (Young Single Adult) Ward every Sunday where I get to see my close friends and we can study the gospel together supporting one another. I attend FHE (Family Home Evening) every Monday Night which consists of a short lesson, activity, and snack. I attend Institute every Tuesday night which consists of an hour deep doctrine class, food, and an activity. Every Wednesday we have "Temple Night" where you can either do baptisms for the dead, endowments, or for those who can not enter into the temple its a chance for you to walk the temple grounds and have a spiritual experience where you can have those important questions answered. After the temple our Bishop takes us to eat at Dennys and even pays for it! Every Thursday is Book of Mormon Study group where the missionaries give us a lesson and answers any questions we may have as well as teaches us to be missionaries on our own. This usually ends with a fun activity. Most Fridays we have a YSA dance for ages 18-30 which consists of a rockin' DJ with modern clean music, food, and a chance to meet some cute guys/girls to either take out on a date or new friends. Being a member of a YSA ward is so exciting! There's something to do nearly every day of the week and you get that love and support from members that are your age who are going through the same or similar struggles you are going through.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Aryn
I am all about Women/Men equality. I want to go into Non Profits for Women's Rights so you can definitely count on my opinion on this subject. It may seem from the church's past that with polygamy, stay-at-home moms, and birthing of lots of children that women are seen as "Baby Makers" or second class to men, it's not true. The church preaches that women are sacred daughters of God. We are to be treated with care and love. We are taught that when a man dies and goes to Heaven that he will be responsible for the Women's tears that he caused. We are to be cherished and loved. As well as we are expected to do the same in return. In the Bible the Lord made Eve from Adams Rib. This represents that the Woman is intended to stand on the side of teh Man. Not beneath him or above him, but side by side. If the man or woman decided to treat the other as if they are not equal, they will have to stand before God on judgement day and deal with the punishment. The Lord will not let any man or woman be treated unequally and get away with it. If the church did not preach equality I would not be a member. I am grateful to be a member of the only true church on this Earth, Christ's church. I love this gospel and I know and promise you it is true. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
