Hi I'm Mark Berg

I am an attorney who grew up Jewish. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an attorney practicing in California since 1995. I was raised in a Jewish family before being baptized a member of the Church in 2004. I have been married for over 21 years and am the proud father of a 16 year old daughter and 12 year old boy/girl twins.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Jewish family and had almost no knowledge of the Church or its beliefs until I met my wife while traveling in Utah 22 years ago. Even after we married I had little interest in the Church. I was supportive, but never planned to convert or seriously look into joining. After we were married several years my father in law unexpectedly passed away. My wife asked me if I would read the Book of Mormon as a favor to her and to honor my father in law. I had read it before, but this time agreed to read it prayerfully. Quite unexpectedly I found myself believing the scriptures I was reading. When I would pray to God for guidance, I received a confirmation of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I felt in my soul then, as today, what I was reading was truly the word of God. Soon after I agreed to be taught by the missionaries. My family and I had some amazing missionaries teach us- it was a very spiritual time for us. I was baptized in 2004 and sealed with my family for time and eternity one year later. The Church has provided me with direction, hope and happiness beyond what I ever could have imagined.

How I live my faith

I have been a counselor in our ward's Bishopric for over three years. Prior to that I taught our Sunday School Gospel Doctrine class for adults for several years. I love the opportunity I have had to study and teach the scriptures. It has helped me grow to really know, understand and love the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
