Hi I'm Alyssa

I've lived in 5 different cities, been to 6 schools, active in my high school student government and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in high school and I am passionate about public speaking. I participate in my Student Government, FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), Volleyball, and softball. I am often told by my mom that girly clothes just make me stronger and she knows that I will always compete with the boys. I love to help in the community no matter what and am constantly swamped with homework. I have lived in 4 states, 5 cities, and on both coasts of the United States. I absolutely love to decorate (mostly my room). I have always wanted to own multiple four wheelers and camp all the time. I am ridiculously good at taking charge (which I should probably lay off of). I plan to go to BYU Idaho, Provo is just too big for me. I love to learn but don't enjoy most of my classes like a normal kid. I want to be a psychologist, motivational speaker, veterinarian, math teacher, a principal, and so much more. My potential future is absolutely wide open and I cannot wait to see all that God has planned for me.

Why I am a Mormon

As a young woman I have the opportunity every year to go to Girls Camp and learn about the value of women in the church. At girls camp one year I knelt and prayed; I asked Heavenly Father to give me strength and help me in a decision I had to make. That night we had a devotional about the meaning of the temple and how we should strive to live with Heavenly Father through temple ordinances. I the moments of peace I felt a true knowledge that as I strive for the Temple then I will not fault and God will strengthen me. The spirit testified of this to me which not only answered my earlier prayer but helped me be touched by the spirit to last in saying that I am in the true church and through the opportunities in this church I will have immortality and eternal life to be with my Heavenly Father again.

How I live my faith

I actively live my faith by being an example. Everyone around me knows of my faith and I am asked questions if not daily then weekly. I do my best to show others what the standards I believe in are. I help and serve in the community I am in through church and even outside of church. As a young women I respect the men around me and teach them of serving a mission as I support my brother in his. I babysit often and teach the younger kids the of being a youth in our church.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Alyssa
For first block we participate in a family worship service which is called sacrament meeting; we partake of the sacrament, hymns sung by the congregation, and speakers who are asked to speak about a topic in the gospel. Second block is Sunday school classes which are offered for every age group; the youth and children have classes by age and Men and Women then participate in one of many offered classes. The third hour or block is also sunday school classes; the youth and adults are then split up by gender, and children have a grouped class. Visitors are always welcomed at church meetings and activities. There is no requirement to be able to attend and no fees. Show more Show less
