Hi I'm Thomas

I'm from Utah. I have recently been called to serve a mission in the Lima South Peru Mission and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born into the church and have been an active member all my life. I recently finished my senior year in High School and am very excited to go to Peru on my mission. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I have been in orchestra throughout all of my high school life and have played both violin and cello for a number of years. I recently joined my high school choir group last year and have loved singing with them. I love the outdoors and especially enjoy hiking and water sports. I also like to go shooting targets with my friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I've known the basics of the gospel since almost day one. However, I have not always had a strong testimony. For a long time the gospel was just kind of there in my life. Its hard to pinpoint a specific moment or event that changed my life to focus on The Savior. It all added up little by little, like visiting the temple with my close friends and making the decision to read the entire standard works. Eventually my testimony grew to the point where I can say that I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church upon the earth today. The gospel truly has made me a happier person. It has made me want to be better than I was yesterday and find a lasting peace in this chaotic world that we live in. I feel this peace because I have felt the love that God has for me. It is one of the most precious gifts we have on this earth. I believe that Christ set up this church again in the latter days- like He did when he was on the earth- through the prophet Joseph Smith. These simple truths make my life better and help me have a desire to share the gospel with others. I love this wonderful church. These things I say in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I have been called as a leader of each of my youth group classes (deacons, teachers, and priests). I have enjoyed spending time with my youth groups and getting to know my peers in my ward. As quorums we have accomplished a lot, such as participating in service projects, taking the sacrament to the elderly, and learning more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I also hold the calling of a seminary council member which is a council of seniors that plan seminary activities and help the seminary in any way that they can. As a seminary council we invite as many people as we can to take seminary and to learn more about the Book of Mormon. The most important thing we do as a council though is be an example to the youth in our high school. I have most recently been called to serve as a missionary and I am looking forward to this calling. I love talking to people about the restored gospel. It has helped me become more Christ like and find true happiness. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity I have to be a member of this wonderful church.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No we do not worship Joseph Smith. We only worship God and Jesus Christ. We believe that Joseph Smith was a great man who was inspired by the Lord. He was a prophet of God, his mouthpiece on earth, and the Lord through his servant Joseph restored His church. For that we are grateful for Joseph like we are for Moses and John, but we don't by any means worship him. Show more Show less
