Hi I'm Darlene

I grew up in Michigan; moved to Florida; moved to Arizona where I am today. I have a wonderfully large family.

About Me

My grandmothers have been wholesome, wonderful role models for me. Now I am trying to have an influence for good on my own many grandchildren. I have enjoyed teaching third through high school ages in the largest and the smallest school districts in Arizona. Then my husband and I traveled and worked until settling in Arizona when our grandchildren began to be born. We are now insurance agents and I help people with their health insurance. For pleasure I enjoy kayaking, hiking, serving in our Rotary Club, our church women's organization and our local Chamber of Commerce.

Why I am a Mormon

The Lord guided me to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints forty years ago in Bradenton, Florida. I was raised as a Protestant and sought truth wherever it could be found. As I was introduced to the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith, I was a quite stubborn and not sure about the Church. I used the saying in the New Testament that says ..." by their fruits ye shall know them.." to make the decision to investigate seriously which led me to baptism. My mother gave me numerous anti-Mormon literature...which I read. I had decided to join and be totally active for one year then see how I felt about all that I learned. At the end of the year I also reread the literature my mother had given me. I found it to have false statements and/or half truths of what was actually Mormon doctrine. I am so very happy with my decision to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love Jesus Christ and am very grateful for His gift of the atonement and the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

Daily I read my scriptures and speak to our Heavenly Father with prayer. I try to live the way Jesus Christ would have me live. I think of Him and what he had done for me and never tire of serving my family, friends and community because I know He would. I forgive. I try to always be kind and patient. I am certainly not perfect at these but they are written in my heart and mind. I do believe all people are my spiritual brothers and sisters.
