Hi I'm Marie

I live in North Carolina. My dad passed away when I was 15. I'm married to the love of my life. I am a Mormon.

About Me

After losing my father to cancer when I was 15, my understanding of life was shaken and I had to cling to what I had... My faith. Throughout the past 10 years, I have come to understand that my Savior loves me and understands all that I have been through. He knows what I am capable of, as well as the things in life that terrify me most. My husband and I currently live in North Carolina while he is attending Duke Medical School. This was a blessing from Heavenly Father in and of itself. I teach 3rd grade in a small town and I love each and every one of my 25 students. I enjoy laughing and smiling. I believe an optimistic attitude comes easy with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love it. I love the feelings it gives me inside when I read of the truthfulness of the gospel. I love how I know I will be able to see my dad again, even though our relationship was cut short when I was 15. I love President Thomas S. Monson as well as the other leaders in the church and all that they add into my life through what they teach. I love knowing that I will be with my husband forever because of the sealing power of this gospel. I love the guidelines of this church that keep me a "peculiar" person in a time when the world is so "normal".

How I live my faith

I live my faith by working as a ward missionary. In this calling, I am able to work with ward members to see how we can uplift members as well as non-members in our area. I live my faith by studying the gospel with my husband at night when we get home from bustling days and we need to be uplifted together. I live my faith by letting the light of my Savior into my life and allowing him to uplift me each and everyday.

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

We believe that our journey does not end with death. Wouldn't that be so difficult? To die and and not see our families again would be literally heart-breaking. We believe that this life is a journey. I believe I will be able to kneel at my Savior's feet one day, just like my dad already has. Although I do not know or understand all that eternal life will hold, I do know that it will be incredible to be with my husband forever. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Absolutely!! Jesus Christ is my Savior. He died for me, even though he didn't have to. Because of him, I am able to come closer to Heavenly Father and not let my mistakes from the past get in my way. Jesus Christ overcame death and has shown me that we also will be able to live again with family members that we hold so close to our hearts. Jesus Christ knows me better than I know myself. He loves me, even when I am unlovable. He trusts me, even when I do not trust myself. He believes in me, more that I can believe in myself. Show more Show less
