Hi I'm Colin

I'm from Utah. I'm a missionary in Texas now. I love to play sports and listen to music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am spending two years of my life devoted to sharing the gospel with as many people as I can. I am serving in the Texas Houston Mission. Before my mission, I was studying to be a business management major in College. I was also a custodian at an elementary-age charter school. I enjoy playing almost every sport I can, but my favorite sports are basketball and golf. I really loved listening two music too. I listen to, what others consider, weird music. If you've ever heard of the Presidents of the United States of America or They Might Be Giants, you have a general idea of what I'm talking about. My music choice is pretty diverse too. I listen to basically anything but modern country and screamo, provided it's clean. Some people might think that I'm crazy for putting my life on hold for two years to serve God, but I know that this is one of best decisions I've ever made.

Why I am a Mormon

To be honest, I have been a Mormon my whole life. Some may think that I have been brainwashed or forced to be Mormon, but that's not the case. I am a Mormon because I know it's right. Even though I was taught this gospel my whole life, I have the ability to choose whether or not to follow it. I choose to follow it because I know for myself that it is the way that my Heavenly Father wants me to go.

How I live my faith

Right now, I'm serving a mission for this church. If you're unfamiliar with this concept, I have put my "normal life" on hold for two years to serve the Lord, and serve people, full-time. My days consist, mainly, of helping other people learn about our church and Jesus Christ. I help others find out for themselves why this church is so special and what it has to offer them. Apart from helping others learn more about our church and Jesus, I also look for opportunities to serve other people any way I can. Even if it's doing something small, like returning someone's shopping cart for them. I want to be able to make other peoples' days better any way I can. I always try to live my life the best I can. If somebody who has never heard of my church wondered what we were all about, I would want to be the kind of person that they can look at to see what we're all about.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Colin
We believe that he is an all-knowing, all-powerful, and perfect being. All humans were created in his image and he knows and loves every individual person that has lived, lives now, or will live in the future. Show more Show less

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Colin
The church does not endorse any particular parties. Members of our church may have different views on how a country is best run. The thing that is most important that our church encourages is to be politically active. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Colin
Joseph Smith was a prophet, and we treat him as such. He has our respect, admiration, and our testimony that he was a prophet of God; but we don't worship him. We look at Joseph Smith much as we do other prophets like, for example, Moses. We can look at Moses as a wonderful person and as an invaluable instrument in the hands of the Lord; but he isn't someone we worship. We only worship God our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
