Hi I'm Alex Bernards

I grew up in Layton, Utah. I'm preparing to serve a mission in Nicaragua. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of eight kids, with four brothers and three sisters. I played soccer for 13 years, while also playing basketball for about 5. I love to be active outside, especially if I'm with my family. My favorite vacation is going to Zion National Park with my family and hiking all day with them. I love to camp, hike, and spend time in nature. I love to read and write. My favorite book genres are fantasy and adventure. My all time favorite authors are C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling, Christopher Paolini, and Suzanne Collins. I love to watch superhero movies. I graduated from Layton high in 2013 and I just earned my Associates Degree from Weber State. When I return home from my mission, I am going to finish up my schooling at BYU majoring in Editing.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a home that was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From a young age, I knew that I wanted to continue to be a part of the Church because I knew that it was right and it made me feel so happy and peaceful. Like everyone else, I was tempted to leave the Church. When I was twelve, I was asked to play soccer on Sunday. I knew it was wrong, so I refused and stood by what I knew to be right. I was blessed because of my decision. The older I've gotten, the more I've learned how true it is. When President Monson made the announcement in October 2012 that the missionary age had been lowered, I knew I needed to serve a mission. I wanted to share the joy and the truths I knew with everyone I could, at home and in another area of the world. I want everyone to feel what I feel and know what I know. The Church is true. I have felt the Spirit every day of my life, when I serve others, read my scriptures, pray, sing Church songs, and spend time with my family. Jesus Christ suffered and died for our sins and He, along with our Heavenly Parents, wants us to return home to Them.

How I live my faith

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church when I turned eight years old. I served in a few different callings while I was a teenager. I would help plan activities, encourage other young women to come to Church, and be a good example and leader to everyone. I now serve in the nursery taking care of the little kids in my ward as their parents go to their meetings. I am preparing right now to serve a mission in Nicaragua. I leave for the Mexico Mission Training Center on January 8, 2014.
