Hi I'm Emily

I was born and raised Okie, the youngest of 6. I'm a stay-at-home mom to my 3 crazies. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a self-taught graphic designer and love creating things for every day life! I love creating memories - scrapbooks, special birthday cards, etc that help everyone remember the special moments in our lives. I'm a huge advocate of journaling - especially for our posterity - and helping others learn through our trials. I am a computer junky but love coloring with a fresh box of new crayons and playing board and card games. I am not much of a cook...or even a house wife! We live in clutter. I love volunteering at my children's school and lending a creative hand wherever I can. I hate pain and usually find myself talking (and talking and talking) my way through it!

Why I am a Mormon

Recently my husband and I lost a baby who was only 17 weeks (in the womb). Before I miscarried, I received a blessing from worthy Priesthood holders and was truly touched by the words that were spoken. After placing their hands on my head, they blessed me with strength and that I would be okay. They blessed us as a family to remember that this baby will bring peace and be a great testimony to us. A few hours later I went to the ER and delivered my little boy. I was given comfort through the Holy Ghost and knew I was going to be alright. Our little baby came to do what he needed to do. He received a body but did not need to experience the trials and hardships that comes with living on the Earth. My husband and I both feel that there are so many special spirits waiting for their turn to receive a body and for those of us who have to experience miscarriages and loss, we are helping them fulfill that. We both know that one day, after this life, we will be able to know and be a family with the little boy we lost, as well as the loved ones that have gone before us. I know that families can be eternal - not just stopping at death - and with that knowledge, I feel peace and love that our baby boy will be with us again.

How I live my faith

We care very much about service - service to neighbors, to church families, to our community, to our world. Currently I am serving in the organization focused on the Young Women (ages 12-18) and I love it! I feel younger when the girls giggle and chat and talk about their lives, and it reminds me of my youth...and the trials and choices I had to make. I feel like I can be there to listen and to council with them through my life lessons and help them grow in faith and hope. Previously I worked with the boys through Cub Scouts. I've never been much of a scouter but I do have such a great appreciation for the program and the skills and characteristics of service it teaches them.
