Hi I'm Yerenia Flores

I'm from a small town, but from a family with BIG personalities. I love my family & most of all, I love being a Mormon!

About Me

Living in an unbelievably small community (less than 300 people in my hometown!) has definitely been both a blessing and a challenge. I've been able to participate in clubs that have allowed me to practice on my many interest: storytelling, music, photography, writing, pottery, and drawing. I love to work with my hands! But also with a small community, is the fact that there are not many opportunities to expand one's horizons. That's where going to a university in a city was both exciting and adventurous! I went with my sights set on Graphic Design. A semester later, I was COMPLETELY out of sorts with my career goals. PANIC MODE all my second semester! But I met wonderful people who helped me get to know myself better. I am confident I'll find what it is that I want to do in the future. 'Till then, I've been blessed with an opportunity to do something great. I'm preparing to serve a mission! Which I am incredibly excited for! I can't wait for what my Heavenly Father has in store for me!

Why I am a Mormon

I know that God loves me. I don't have a great and powerful conversion story. I simply know that because He loves me, He placed in my life my family to help me understand that the gospel can guide and strengthen. God knows what I can become even though I can't see it myself. I am blessed to have a communication with God through prayer and to have the words of the prophets in scriptures. A quiet impression, a moment of warmth are all confirmations from the Holy Ghost that the gospel is perfect and true and that my Heavenly Father and my Savior do love and know me.

How I live my faith

I had the wonderful opportunity to be a Sunday School teacher for the Young Single Adults while I attended university. I didn't know at the way beginning what an interesting group the YSA would turn out to be. I had to be VERY creative in making each and every lesson both education and engaging and fun. I know that our Heavenly Father knows what my weaknesses and strengths are. He placed me in the best time and place for me to learn. It was kind of scary at first, but I grew to love my students and my calling. After finishing up my freshman year, I went back home for the summer and started working. I didn't know that exactly I should be doing since my career plans where so uncertain. Then, I got a very quiet impression that I needed to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. It's already been a tremendous blessing for me, even though I'm not yet on the field. Taking on the challenge from my mission president to share the gospel, I shared what little I know with a co-worker during a lunch break. Now, I am happy to see her and her family striving to learn and live the gospel! It is a beautiful experience to see my friends begin to know and love the gospel that is so precious to me.
