Hi I'm Dominic Todd Douglas

I am a Computer Science student. I've lived in Utah since I was 9, before that was California. Video Games are my hobby.

About Me

I am the oldest of three siblings, with two younger sisters. My parents divorced when I was five years old, and so I kind of had to play the father figure for my two sisters for most of my life. I feel very protective of both my sisters and my mother as a result. My passion is in computers and video games. I love technology. I am currently enrolled at Stevens Henager College majoring in Computer Science with a programming emphasis. I have been programming for about three years now and I love it. As far as video games go, I love to play anything and everything, from console to computer, hardcore to casual games. In high school, swimming was my sport. I don't swim for a team anymore, but it remains to be my favorite form of exercise. I also started dating my current girlfriend right before high school, and we are still together. I love her dearly, and she is the woman I plan to marry.

Why I am a Mormon

There are a few reasons why I chose the LDS church over so many others when trying to find out what I should believe. The first reason is that it makes the most sense to me. All of the beliefs of the church are things that I find to be very good. It encourages loving others, being selfless, and taking care of yourself. It is a church that improves the lives of its members, and everyone who associates with them if they are living the gospel the best that they can. I also have yet to find beliefs of the church that conflict with scientific findings, which is rather important to me. Sometimes individuals will have misguided beliefs, but if I search for answers to my questions when I have doubts, the doubt is almost always erased. The second big reason is that I honestly don't know one hundred percent either way if there is a god or not. However, I do believe in being a good person, and if this church is true, I want everything that is promised by this church if you live a worthy life. I want to live forever in heaven with my family and loved ones. I want everyone else to have that opportunity too. So because I want what this church promises so much, I have decided to live the gospel. Even if it ends up not being true, it makes me a better and healthier person, and makes my life better, so I'm going to stick with it.

How I live my faith

Just like a lot of people, I attend church every Sunday, read my scriptures, and participate in charity activity whenever I can. I don't have any special jobs in the church, just a regular member. Although, I am about to do something that I think is one of the larger commitments to faith a person can make in our church. I have chosen to serve on a two year mission. During the next two years, I will be living in the southern half of France with little communication to my loved ones other than letters and email. While I am there, I will be focusing on charity work, bringing people to Christ, and just helping people out and making them feel loved in general. In choosing to go on this mission, I will be risking a $20/hour job, a $70,000 scholarship, and most importantly, the relationship with the girl I've fallen in love with. I have chosen to put faith in Jesus Christ and in my church that I will be blessed upon my return. I am also glad for the opportunity to bring the gospel into the lives of others and help them with whatever they are in need of.
