Hi I'm Emily Coleman

I have a hearing loss. I love talking to people. I am an artist, runner, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was diagnosed with a moderate to severe hearing loss at birth. Through the determination of my parents, I can speak just as well as a hearing person and people are often shocked to find I even have a hearing loss. I am an artist, I use all types of media. I especially enjoy creating pieces per request of my friends. I am also a runner. I was playing volleyball on a team of 33 girls in 8th grade when I friend invited me to run. I reluctanly joined the middle school cross country team. Competitive running soon became one of my passions. I ran on the high school varsity track and cross country teams all 4 years of high school. I went to the state track championships multiple times. I know Christ loves and watches out for me. I have a severe peanut allergy and I know I am here on Earth for a reason. He preserves my life every day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family and so I grew up hearing the gospel. However, it wasn't until I truly wondered if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was really the true church, that I was truly converted to this gosple. My mother taught me to pray to God, and ask Him, if it was true. That way, I wouldn't get my answer from my mom, dad, bishop or anyone else, but God. I know God cannot lie. By going through the process of honestly wanting to know if this gospel is true,God, through his Holy Spirit, confirmed to me that it is indeed true (James 1:5). I know Joseph Smith is a true prophet. I know Christ died for us that we might live again. I know that one day I will be resurrected and my hearing will be restored. He knows what I am going through and how I feel. I know He loves me. I know I am here for a reason. I know everything happens for a reason. I know God is a good God. I know bad things happen to good people but that is not because God wants us to be sad. He wants us to be happy, He will bless us and help us get through those hard times. I have been through a lot, including the death of 3 close friends. During those times of hopelessness and despair, I have only for peace and comfort in knowing HE LIVES. I know I can return to live with Him and my loved ones again. Families can be together forever through our Heavenly Fathers great plan of happiness. You are a beloved son/daughter of God. He loves you. You are amazing. Find the truth, live it and stay strong.

How I live my faith

I am now a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and have been called to serve and share the glorious message of our Heavenly Father's restored gospel to the wonderful people living in the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission area.
