Hi I'm Brian

I grew up in a small town on the Oregon coast. I'm a firefighter and going to school to be a paramedic. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a student and a student intern at a fire department. I started volunteering for a fire department in 2008 as a way to spend time with my dad now it has been my goal in life to make it a career. I have a degree in fire suppression. When I'm not at school or working i enjoy anything that involves water. That includes surfing, skim boarding, Scuba diving, and have been trying to get into jet skiing.

Why I am a Mormon

My story of why I am a mormon started my senior year. I was at a youth group function when I broke my hand because of this brake I could not work for serval months. At this point i decide to join the fire department because the time I was going to be in a cast was nothing but class room work. Once I started volunteering I love it and decided to go to school for it. While in school I met a guy named Tyler. Once i got to know him i found out that he was mormon. We talked about it here and there but I never went to church with him. After we graduated he invited he to go with him to Virginia and do summer sales. Once in Virginia I felt the spirit really strong. Everyone that I was around was very up beat and stood out has upbeat classy guys. One day I heard some of the guys that I have been hanging out with talking about church. At this point in my life I was looking to go back to church. So I got went up to them one day and asked if I could go to church with them. That sunday was my first day at any kinda of church for 2 years. After sacrament my friend introduced me to the sister missionaries. They where amazing. One of them knew my friend from back home. That day I had my very first lesson. At this lesson the sisters gave me the book of mormon and asked if I would read it and I said of course. The next couple weeks I would come home after working 10 hours a day and read. Once sunday came around I would spend my only day off at church. It was amazing because I would have another lesson and learn more every week. After a couple of lessons the sister missionaries asked if i wanted to be baptized. This was something I had been praying about and knew the answer right away. Three weeks later i got baptized on August 17, 2013. Now I'm back in Oregon away from all my summer sales friends but i still go to church every week. Its amazing to see how the spirit has changed my life for ever.

How I live my faith

I live faith every day by volunteering for a small fire department and leading by example. I'm currently the elders quorum secretary. I also like to help out the scout troop that i got my eagle scout from by being adult leader on camping trips when i can.
